Frogbeats Custom-IEM Appreciation Thread - Page 13

Kirosia really hopes that his audiologist didn't screw up the impressions. He can wait a few months, but twice as long, madness embeds itself. O_O

Manufacturers usually have a guy for every step in the process of creating a piece. As you can also see in the UERM production vid.

Does frogbeats really have only two engineers? If so they really need to hire new people.

Don't take me too literally, I don't actually know how many members of staff currently work at frogbeats. I was speaking broadly. But you can be certain they don't "have a guy for every step in the process of creating a piece". That kind of staffing (like UE) takes serious money. Not something a small start-up can afford. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are large CIEM companies.

I can definitely sympathise with that statement. But still a season for one piece is freaking ridiculous. No matter how new the company is.

Back to track here: how would you (or anyone else) compare the SQ to a more expensive ciem like the uerm?

Of the C4?

You should look into purrin's forum for that.

Will do, will do. I've always been intrigued by CIEMs. As a drummer I'm also very interested in them fo their isolating capabilities.
Still 650 euros is a lot of money for a student like me :0

Are their any comparisons of the C4 to any full sized open headphones?

I think this

Is the closest wehave for a comparison to a full sized

Hopefully mine doesnt have fit problems either. I'm fine with waiting, but it is misleading when
David keeps promising that it is the "last week of build" and repeats that for. 2-3 weeks. I really do doubt that they received alot of orders during the sale period, although i could be wrong. Heck the first thread here was closed due to some conflict with the moderators. Doesn't seem plausible that they'd be swamped with too many. 100 is pushing it even though there problably was an increase in orders. Either way, how long have you guys been waiting since they received your impressions? I'm in the middle of my 8th week.

There are like one or two... somewhere (on this thread perhaps?), but I can't really remember lol.

EDIT: Haha Eve beat me to it.

Hmm I've already read it. It's compared to the HD800, which is a worldclass headphone. I'm not expecting a cIEM to be as good as a full sized open back flagship headphone. But I'm just wondering whether it would hold up to something like the HD650 or HE-400.

According the LFF, it holds pretty well against his Paradox, which does say alot and I would put the Paradox above the Hd650s. Not too sure about the HE400s. Hopefully more people can pitch in with comparisons.

Seeing that the original price of th C4s is around $900 i would hope it can stack against an Hd 650 or HE400

Well in my experience the SQ/price ratio is not nearly as good with iems (universal), as it is with full sized headphones.

I've listened to the Maddogs and own the HE-400. And I would put the HE-400 above the Maddogs. I've also done some modding on the HE-400.
About the price, I think the comfort, the weightlessness, the isolation and the size is also very important for the ciems. I mean this is probably more important than the sound quality. As a performer you wouldn't go on stage with a full sized headphone. Unless you're maybe a dj?

Btw, I would also place the maddogs above the HD650, but not by much.

My frien liked the maddogs alot over the 650s but I guess it may be personal preference.

Anyways, some hope that CIEMs can compete is here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/527305/comparison-review-earsonics-sm3-vs-earsonics-em3-pro-vs-earpower-ep-10-plus-vs-audeze-lcd-2-vs-beyerdynamic-tesla-t1

Although doesn't say that the C4 will perform in that manner, it gives me some sort of hope.

I think technical sound quality is comparable, but the presentation of IEMs vs. full sized headphones will always differ.

Haven't tried HE400 but i had 20 minute listening to my friend HD650 with AMB M3 and JDSlabs ODAC and compared with the C4. My impression is that the HD650 only interested me only with male vocal albums. With others i prefer my C4 especially for instrumental and classical albums. The soundstage on the C4 is much airier and open than the HD650 due to its good extention in the treble region while the HD650 rolled off too early. Moreover, the detail level, transparency, imaging as well as the transient speed is the things that you will find that the C4 is obviously superior to the HD650. The HD650 makes me feel so slow that i don't want to listen to them with some tracks such as "Archangel - 2steps from hell" that i posted in some first pages of this topic. The things that i think the HD650 is better than C4 is the bass impact, bass quantity and the thickness of the mid.

I have a UERM reshelled by UM as well and i think it sounds very close to the UERMs of some friends of mine. C4 has greater soundstage with quite the same imaging as the UERM. C4 has much more bass impact and can go much lower than the UERM. UERM has brighter metallic treble and more sparkle than C4. The midrange of both are very detailed and transparent however the UERM is too sensitive to bad recording and the C4 is more forgiving. As a result, i am selling my UERM as i didn't use them much to justify keeping them redface.gif

Finally, i would say to people who is seeking info on the C4. If you want a neutral, accurate with a large soundstage CIEM, go for the C4, you won't be disappointed. I think , of all the IEMs i have tried, TG334! and C4 are the two that satisfied me the most and i had no regret buying them. Now i just want to try the FitEar MH335DW but my wallet cannot allow thatredface.gif
