Are you still trying to maintain a $100 budget? Have you considered something like the Swan H2 from The Audio Insider? That is, if you are still interested in a compact system. Another pair to look at is the Studiophile AV 40 from Avid (M-audio).

destroysall.

av40 is not very good production, lack bass. you should buy bx5a if you want acceptable bass.

why not upgrade your T10 to T20/T40?

unless you really want bookshelf speakers with AV40 size

moral of the story:  small size and good bass are mutually exclusive.  there's simply no getting around physics

Haven't really compared portable speakers but I received the Bose soundlink as Christmas present. It blows away the little Memorex triple A I had. Higher volumes turn muddy and strain the amp but the battery life seems good. For atmosphere away from power or just to force feed your taste in public, Id say its great. Worth the bones, nahhhh!

I second the awesome on the Audioengine A2.  They are pretty awesome.  If you want to go super budget though for $150 you could pick up the M-Audio AV40.

Picked up the Audioengine A2 on Monday along with the stands and these blew me away. The bass on them is more than sufficient that you will not need a separate sub.

Two very big thumbs up.
