Bit of a painful headphone purchasing dilemma (All advice welcome!!) - Page 3

Well we never got to return the 428's and when I do I'm certain I'll be springing for the 280/380, whichever is more affordable, but would a solution be to get new ear pads for the 428? Ones the jet out further from the base? I actually adore how light these cans are. Basically stuck for another 2 days cause of Thanksgiving/Black Friday.

 

EDIT: put them on again and wOW they are painful. The problem with these suggestions for me is that they're all way more expensive than the 428's which I paid 60 for (overkill I know but they were a gift) so I need like something with big huge cups that isn't going to kill my head like the XB500 for ~70. You guys feel me? This is torture for me.

The ATH-AD700 look like something in my range and considering they're family to the A700/X but I heard the bass has little response. Has anyone tried them personally? Is it that bad? The bass on these senns is pretty low too, but that's compared to my XB500/heartbeats.

I would try to find a used Senheisser 555 or 558 or something else. These have giant earcups with velour pads and fairly low clamping force (555 more then 558 i think)
