Everything in my arsenal is AKG that I use so... I wouldn't know. Most likely just drivers were tight, been using pink noise since the post & Testing them out now during the process everything is already improving.

Refer to above! :) pinknoise seems to be the best as it covers a lot of frequencies so it would be hitting everything. Anything but bass//drum loops at first really.

How do these compare to the K702/Q701, and are these comfortable (how long can one wear these for)?
Do they come with coiled cables? I'm a very clumsy person and the cord gets caught on knobs and corners a lot, so should I wait for the K267s?

Coiled cable, very comfortable to me, can wear them for 12 hours with no fatigue, treble is as good or better than K701 (it's superb), bass is much tighter and punchier (with lots of detail), mids a bit warm. Soundstage is phenomenal. Just the right width and depth. Hope this helps.

Yeah, from all the phones I've had, these are the ones that most benefit from burn-in. Even volume gets louder and bass stronger. blink.gif They sound really "weird" out-of-the-box. After burn-in (including a 24 hour session with EDM at the loudest volumes possible - heavy driver shaking exercise), they're one of the most revealing phones I've heard, since bass to treble.

I read some posts saying the build quality is not great? What is wrong with the build quality?

 

Are these revealing and bright headphones like D2000 or are the revealing and dark like HD650?

I am also not a fan of coiled cables as I want portability. Having said that my intention would be to get a friend to cut the cable and terminate them near the cup with a 1/8" female connector then terminate the cable with a 1/8" male connector. This would allow me to use a third party cable like the M80 iPhone cable for portable use.

My question is do these need an amp to sound correct? I ask because I am using the K550 right now and love their sound straight from my iPhone so would want similar performance from the K167 out my iPhone. I also have to say while I do wish the K550 was a bit more secure feeling I really like their comfort level.

Somebodies hinges cracked I think, but its only happened to one person. Also the cable is not removable.

Got a quick listen to the big brother K267, sound is similar, with the K267 you can adjust the bass slightly, build quality is definately better and that's what you pay for, they are not as comfortable as the K167 mainly because they are heavier and they also don't isolate as well, I was a happy though, since the K167 is much better for the money.

I don't mind the weight, and the build quality is a big plus for me. Can you be more detailed on the isolation though? How much do they leak, and how much do they block? Is the bass system a god one?

 

Maybe you should post that and your other impressions on the K267 thread.

I think nothing's wrong with the build quality, if you don't put the feet over them :p

 

Revealing and a bit dark, not as bright as the D2000s.
