Headphones like AKG K77

Hi.

As can be seen in some of my other posts here, I like the sound of the AKG K77's. I think they have great bass, but not overpowering, but with slightly recessed mids and treble. The sound signature overall is appealing to me. Can any other Head-Fi'ers who own or have heard the K77's recommend any good, somewhat portable headphones with similar sound? Right now I'm looking at the V-Moda M-80's or the LP2's, but I don't know if I will like them. I'm not a serious, critical audiophile, but I do like my bass because I listen to many types of electronic(electrohouse, dubstep, DnB, etc.) and my budget is around $100 - $150.

Also, can anyone recommend any good neutral sounding headphones? I can boost the bass all I want with the digiZoid ZO2.

Bumping the s*** out of this

I had the K77 for a couple weeks and really I can't say I was very fond of it. Sure, it had a fun sound signature, but the slightly muddy bass, the lack of detail especially in the highs, and overall plasticky hue made it unenjoyable. I actually found that I preferred pulling the cups down further and wearing it like an on-ear (no seal), so the bass lessened and the mids became more forward.

As for a recommendation, all the other headphones I've owned or tried simply don't sound like the K77s, so I can't really help you there. I would recommend the HFI-780 but they have very bright treble. I say the M80 would be a safe bet from what I've read about them.

What about the AKG K618DJ? They've been getting decent impressions and apparently have a very fun sound signature. Check out this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/626902/new-just-revealed-akg-k618dj

Thanks for the recommendation, but I think I've finally come to a decision. I've settled on the Sennheiser HD25-1 II, as it seems to be one of the most recommended and renowned portable headphones. I have one question, though: will the Sennheisers run well out of an iPhone, or will I have to buy an amp? No worries if an amp is needed, as I have one, I was just curious.

Ah yes, I forgot about the HD25's, I just assumed they were out of your price range. The HD25-1 will run out of an iphone just fine.

How does the AIAIAI TMA-1 headphone compare to the HD25-1 II? I quote myself:

So which headphone do you think will work better for these genres?
