Just replied to you on the Nashville thread-- AWESOME!!!! We've needed to have a dang Nashville meet forever now, and having good peeps there means we stand a good chance of having it become a regular thing!

Sorry for the thread derail-- just really excited to finally get to have a meet in Nashville!! Woo-HOOOO!!! :D

Can you post your thoughts on the HD 800 driven from the Master 8 vs Meier Classic after the meet.

I would love nothing more, lol! I've always wanted to hear the HD800 and the Classic, so I'd love to be able to compare 'em. I tend to be pretty obnoxiously verbose about listening impressions (you can see my summary in last year's Canlanta thread), so you might have to wade through a couple hundred pages to get there, but I'll do what I can! :P

anyone using a transport with the daccord. I see twin coaxial and the transports only have one coaxial.

I am using it with Weiss INT 202. The two coaxials are for connecting 2 transports in parallel. The selector switch lets you select between :

  •  USB
  • Co-axial
  • Co-axial / Optical

Thanks I will check the switch and get it to work properly. I just seen it and figured it lookedstrange so Jan is away this week .

He'll be back tomorrow ;)

Thats good. I will touch base with him for some questions but all is well so far with the stack. I really like the amplifier also.  Well engineered and sounds excellent

It's interesting to see how this thread has panned out after not reading for a few weeks. I was afraid this was all but dead. I still have an interest in hearing the Daccord, even though I ended up going with an Anedio D1 for now. It would be interesting to see if the Daccord plays on a similar level.

I used the think I didn't align as much with Frank I's opinions since I had a Soloist amp which I loved and didn't think a tube amp could replace it's well balanced sound.

I have since acquired an Eddie Current Super 7 and although I'm not sure how it compares the Decware amps that he has owned in the past but it's certainly a significant step up from the Soloist and I would consider myself a convert of quality tube amps now, at least the more neutral ones.

As not to get too off topic, I think the cross feed interests me the most on the Daccord, given how dependent I am on JRivers inbuilt crossfeed dsp. I'm just hoping I wouldn't lose too much resolution from the Anedio.

Yeah, the Daccord is the "must have", IMO...not only is it one of the best kept DAC secrets in audio, but the full crossfeed circuit puts the value through the roof. I've spent literally months dissecting this circuit and experimenting with different headphones and tracks, and I couldn't be more sold on it. I'm 100% convinced that it has absolutely zero impact on tonality or any other aspect of the music. It's absolutely transparent and it does exactly what Jan describes on his website.

For those who already have an amp they love, even just adding the Daccord by itself would be a very nice addition. I don't know if it's just that people haven't taken the time to experience Jan's crossfeed, or if people assume it will be like other less-well-implemented designs, but I can't believe more people aren't taking the time to experience it. I guess in all fairness it doesn't really lend itself to a one-time audition...it's something that, at least in my case, you experience over time, and then when you take it away it's far more drastic than when you first engage it. I dunno, I just know that I'm glad to have access to it myself :)

Not sure what you meant since I have owned solid state amps and like them as well as my tube amps I owned a Soloist and thought it a great amp except for the annoying clicks. I also owned at least  8 or more other  solid state amps. The one thing with tube amps I prefer is the sound stage. Currently my W5 is in my reference system. The daccord is doing well with my Imac and  using the Meirer Classic  as the amp. The stack sound very linear and is musical to boot. No Solid state nastiness with this combo.

My apologies for the generalizations. I was more referring to my past over enthusiasm for the Soloist and my past unwarranted prejudice against tube amps. I had at one point been so enthused that I would take any criticism that was contrary to my experience as a difference in taste. Though I realize it may just be a difference in perspective and experience. Also, I may have confused your comments with someone else possibly.

My perspectives on what I value in gear have slowly changed and matured as I've gained more experience in the hobby. And of course I value many different members opinions and agree with you about the unique soundstage qualities of good tube amps. I was just surprised to still have a very clean and neutral sound as well.

I almost always prefer a tube amp because of tonality and sound stage but the solid state amplifiers are getting so good that sometimes the differences are minute. With this stack I have not been anxious to listen to the tube amp. That is telling me this is an excellent setup especially for the price.

I think I have made up my mind. Daccord + Classic it is! Frank, have you tried HD800s with the stack?
