Thanks a lot! Do you have any idea when the review comes out? Meiers annual spring sale ends 30th of March so I have to make my decision before that.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I will hopefully have mine submitted by then but the publishers also take some time for editing. I will do everything I can do to try but you can always ask privately for my thoughts if it dont make it.

Any thoughts?

I'll throw my 2 cents worth in.  I was so impressed with the T1's right out of the gate, that my audio thinking changed forever.

Since the T's are less expensive and easier to amp regardless of source, just seems a no brainer.

The Corda Classic thread is a nice source for more info and more comparisons between HP's.

The Meier sale is a sale worth waiting for.

I'll repeat what I said earlier in the thread, the balanced music source into the Daccord coax blew me away.  A $50 cable upgrade.

Can you give a link for the cable please. Are you talking about AES / EBU to SPDIF cable ?

I don't think he is, from his earlier post he said he was using an Oppo BDP-105 which does not output AES/EBU.

He also mentioned going balanced to single ended which doesn't make since because the Oppo doesn't have balanced digital output (AES/EBU) and the Daccord doesn't have analog inputs.

I've been trying to understand that setup since it was posted. Also as a skeptic wondering how the different inputs of a DAC like the Daccord would have perceivable difference in output. (Spoiler there isn't a difference.)

Same thoughts crossed my mind as well...

Nevertheless: I really like my Daccord/Classic with the T1 and as far as I know Jan uses his T1 extensively when tuning his products. And they would deserve a lot more attention, so I'm glad to see some additional exposure in the form of reviews.

Can you explain how that works with the Oppo BDP-105?

The balanced output of the Oppo doesn't match any of the inputs on the Daccord. Certainly going from balanced to single ended and wyeing the L/R balanced outputs then plugging it into the coaxial S/PDIF input would not work.

Of course it works, it's magic

In all seriousness you can go directly from the 105 XLR balanced out directly into the R/L on the Classic, but why bypass the Daccord if I don't have to, so I made up my mind if I could keep the quality of the audio signal in balanced mode to the Classic why not the DAC>Classic.  Maybe my other interconnects Coaxil/USB/Optical suck, if it sounds better and I generate a science discussion on the Daccord thread then my $50 was worth it.

Just to clarify, the 105 is hooked up to the classic through the XLR-RCA cable using analog inputs on the Classic.

I'm just not sure how you could use the BDP-105 analog balanced output with the Daccord.

However it is possible the output of the 105 is more pleasing to your ears than the Daccord, that doesn't mean one is better or worse for every maybe just a preference for one over the other for you personally.

XLR>RCA analog balanced to Classic you are right.

Taking a female dual RCA balanced interconnect to a balanced male RCA>Daccord was a $20 gamble on my part, I just hate to waste inputs on my Classic, I'm already running a TT into one input, I was surprised by the result, maybe a pass thru and amp effect? or just a better interconnect/interface? It just works.

This is perhaps a good question for Jan Meier, sometimes I feel like a mad scientist mixing this with that just trying to find that combo that works.

I think I understand it now.

First thing I want to say is to advise you against using a wye cable to feed two outputs into one input. This can cause one output to try and "drive" the other output potentially damaging itself or even possibly the other output. Wyes won't hurt anything to split 1 output to 2 inputs but should not be used for 2 outputs into 1 input. May not hurt anything, but it's good practice to not do it and there is potential for damage.

Anyways, sounds like you need a pre-amp really, a basic input switcher with no volume control, I hesitate to say a simple switch box because most are unattractive and are pretty lame. Unfortunately good pre-amps to use with headphone setups don't really exist that I know of.

What you need is a box with inputs and 1 output that can select between the proper one.

I'd like to see a stack with a headphone amp, pre-amp, and dac personally. Though I don't honestly have a need for it myself.

Is that driver still up to date? Jan sent out my Daccord/Classic promptly the day after I ordered on Jan 30, and just got it today (thanks customs). I'm extremely frustrated, as I can't get it to work. I had a Cantate.2 for many years hooked up to my computer via USB (Windows Vista Home Premium) and it's worked great. Same USB slot, no sound. I installed the driver  (from Vista folder), rebooted, deactivated DTS Audio, Dolby Digital and WMA PRO Audio, and still no sound. It says it's working, but nothing. I tried testing the various Sample Rates, no sound.

When I deactivate the driver and turn on my Harman Kardon (hooked up also with USB) it works fine as usual. I gotta give up for now and go to bed.

Jan sent me the most recent driver(s) in an email when I bought mine last year...you may want to check with him. I'm sure he'll get you up and running regardless, but I understand the frustration for sure.

The silver looks really nice in that pic!

Finally got it, freakin' input switch on the amp. I swore I switched and tested previously. Argh, want to listen to tunes but must sleep.
