Heir Audio Tzar 90 and Tzar 350 Universal In Ear Monitors - Page 53

Actually don't think I read it on this forum. Would be most wary of 20% VAT rather than customs anyway

The Wizard said it 5 posts back. Shipping is USD 55. VAT and customs duty will vary from country to country. In Denmark it is about 25% + 5% + 160DKK handling fee if the parcel gets caught entering the country so about USD 150 on top of the price of the Tzar350

Shipping costs should be no surprise as those are posted ont he web site.

I think they're debating the horrendous customs fees and VAT that we get hit with here in the lovely EU.

It's worth noting that the US prices quoted will be without Sales Tax though, which varies by state, and can be between 3 & 15%, depending on the state. I'm not saying that the EU customs and taxes are not awful, it's just that you need to take into account US Sales Tax when you compare prices.

When I bought my 8.A's I was seriously looking at ticket prices for flying to China to pick them up myself and avoid the fees.

Wonder which is more mids forward between the 350 and the ER-4S. I suspect there's some difference in terms of decay.

4S is much more mid forward and 4P as well, especially upper mids. That's why I hate Ety's and found Tzar 350 quite pleasing.

Yes, 4S's uppermids can be quite jarring at times; but overall, I'm a vocals listeners, so I require forwardness in the mids. Interesting input, nonetheless. Thanks.

The problem with getting used to ER-4S is that everything else sounds like voices are too far away. That is probably why nothing really comes close to the ER-4 in intimacy. Most times it is only a matter of spending a short time getting used to the sound and the different focus. I did not think the Tzar350 is that different from ER-4 when I heard it. But I will know more once I receive the Tzar's.

Yep, maybe Ety's good for some vocals, but 80% of music I listen is distorted guitars and they sound too bright for me on 4S. Even if it has voices it's something like Messhugah, which is not really vocals rolleyes.gif
Other 20% is electronic which is not Ety's field again. For me Tzar's midrange flat enough to be comfortable and yet very detailed. Of course they on bright side, but with tight seal(HiFiMan thin biflange worked out for me) and fat copper cable they will sound really flat, I hope. Had listened them for a while with custom made Belorussian cable(just clean copper, not too fat) - bass response really improved, Tzar's a bit lack of bass slam with stock cable. I think TWcu v3 would be the best solution.
