Heir Audio Tzar 90 and Tzar 350 Universal In Ear Monitors - Page 43

Haha I can wait that long, I think. If you could compare them to the 3.ai or the 4.ai that would be most beneficial! Idk if you have either of those ones already though, but otherwise general impressions would be equally appreciated.

I don't, but I've read enough to be able to give a fairly decent review :P If all goes exactly like Wiz said, these will have slightly less pronounced treble, and slightly more bass. To my brain, that means a detailed, but weighty sound.

Really what I want to know is what would sound the best on my iPhone 4S.. I still don't understand the advantages of high impedance vs. lower ones. I feel like the Tzar 90s would be better headphones than the 3.ai's, but I don't really know why.. or if I would be able to appreciate their advantage with a 4S. However, I see this as an investment and I want headphones that I can use beyond my 4S and into the future. I would be willing to buy an amp later on..so I guess a comparison of the 3.ai vs the Tzar 90 with and without an amp would be what I'm most interested in hearing. :P

It's that true carbon fiber on the top plate? Will there be timberline options too? popcorn.gif

Yes that is true carbon fiber, and at this point in time it is all that is offered

I got my 350. This is my first Heir so I can not compare them to previous models. (I used to own ER4 but not now)

This is just out of box impression. 350 sounded remarkably transparent, articulate and sharp. Actually this is a bit bright for metal/rock but really shines on instrument acoustical music. Very good mate to my recent AK100. 350 brings a fine detail of AK100 when I listen to good recordings.

Frequency response is well balanced and 350 has a good bass. I was not disappointed about the bass in term of both impact and quantity while not humped at all.

350 is not sterile. I think 350 has a good timbre. Highs are crystal clear but a bit bright depended on music. I guess cable rolling would be a help.(though I did not yet)

I'd say the similar sounding headphone is Bayer T1.

Interesting. Would be nice to hear if you think it still sounds bright after burn-in.

Pull your current tips and try a dual or tri flange. That usually tames the treble a bit.

Yep, make sure you insert them as deep as you can and that you get a good seal. It really makes a difference with the 350 :-)

Uh-oh. I have one on order (probably the back of the line -_-), to complement my AK100 as well, and the T1 is the most disappointing headphone I own (not for much longer...) Now from what I've read here, a fair amount of treble can work well enough if controlled (i.e. the HD800) or not (like the huge spike of the T1)

Would you say that it is at a particular point at which this happens (in the case of the T1 pronounced sibilance in particular) or does it seem just an overall increase? Also, since the AK100 has an equalizer, I'd think that would be the first place to try and subtly tame the brightness (I know equalizer are frowned upon around here, but unlike the iPod's for example, this one actually seems to work properly and has fairly fine adjustments)

Ordered my Tzar 350s on the 16th slated for a mid-jan shipping date. D:

Gonna be torture...
