The sound... it's something else. I have no doubt that the 4.Ai will be a better choice for most people wanting a good all-round iem. But if you're looking for a reference IEM, where clarity (especially with vocals) is important, you'll have to try the Tzar 350. Well recorded vocals that I've heard over and over again just gave me shivers. Might just be me not used to these levels of treble, but the word "clarity" keeps popping up in my mind.

wait for a more in-depth review on the amp before making any decision. the 8A stole my wallet!

That's okay. You can start posting your opinion anyway; lots of people do the same.

Sorensiim, If you could please also try to post impressions of the TZAR and the Rendition also run through "lesser" sources than the DX100 if possible. For those of us less fortunate! rolleyes.gif

Thanks.

Now I am tossing around the idea of new amp, tzar and the crazy sale on the 8A! Decisions! Either way this crumbles, Heir is getting my Xmas money. Looking forward to all you can share

+ wit Thegrobe:

Is it possible to say if these Tzar will be ok for light portable setup (Hisoundaudio players without amp for eample).

For home, I already have my EM6 + amp but I am curious to know if certain players (alone) will drive the Tzar enough to shine more than my 4 ai + Studio V ... if not, not interested.

Thank you very much.

Right. Enough with your stupid excuses, Sorensiim. Next time, you'll even pretend you need sleep or a pee break. 700

+1 for this. My main concern with the Tzar is that nearly all of my collection is 256AAC (I bought into the iDevice early) and it is pretty unlikely I will replace everything. Not sure I would invest in a new source and new content for a subset of material and one set of iems.

Of course years from now I could look at that statement and laugh, but hearing how bad 'normal' content is would be nice.

Either the Rendition 1 is tiny or the HD 100 is HUGE

Personally I am not as concerned with bit rates, as all my stuff is FLAC or WAV. But Mango makes a good point, this is valuable info as well. But to clarify, I am mainly concerned with a lesser DAP playing FLAC files. I already notice a limit with the 4.Ai's with ipod/Clip as my sources and I am looking for an upgrade. Just wondering if TZAR is useable with my current setup or if I would be better served witing and upgrading the DAP first. Blah blah now I'm rambling....tongue.gif

For 256 material, you'll want the 4.Ai. The Tzar is merciless. Which would explain the name, I guess.

Well, you know the size of the Rendition 1 and I don't think it shrunk on it's flight up here...

Unfortuneatly, I packed and shipped my Clip+ to a friend just yesterday as I wasn't ever using it. On top of that, my E10 rolled over and died a few days ago so that's out as well. Then I would be down to using either a laptop or my phone as a source. I'll see if I can grab something this saturday at our local meet to try them with.

Some sad news... Was it suicide or natural death? Maybe it was just afraid of what was coming its way! biggrin.gif

I stuck with the 4ai but ordered the rendition. I might feed it with an iPod nano of all things (square touch screen). Should look ridiculous. My guess is I will start upgrading the chain, since merciless clarity sounds extremely appealing.

I suppose there is a thread here for digital music fies and encoding and their pros and cons I should find and read. This hobby is going to get real expensive real fast...
