Heir Audio Tzar 90 and Tzar 350 Universal In Ear Monitors

The Wizard dropped a hint in the 4.Ai thread earlier today of the possibility of upcoming new universal IEM's. Well I just found out what he was alluding to, he's been working on a new higher impedance line of IEM's to pair with high-end DAP's and amplifiers. This new line will have two new IEM's the Tzar 90 and Tzar 350, with an estimated shipping date of around December 1st.

The Tzar 90's impedance is 90 ohms and it's said to have a bit of bass boost for a more fun signature. Pricing is $369

Again, the Tzar 350's model number correlates to it's impedance of 350 ohms. This is the one that has me very intrigued as The Wizard describes it as fast, accurate and smooth, all traits that I tend to prefer. Driver configuration is 1 high 1 mid/bass, priced at $399

Also on the horizon to be released in 2 - 3 weeks is an amplifier called the Rendition 1 using high quality components for great sound.

I have to say, the Tzar 350 sounds very interesting. Beyond it's stated sound characteristics the one thing I find with my IEM's is anytime I use them with anything of any quality I rarely have very much usable volume. Right now with the 4.Ai's I'm generally around 14 - 16 on the Dragonfly's computer volume, that doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room for fine tuning but a higher impedance IEM would potentially allow for a greater range on my volume dial which would be welcome.

Very very intriguing. I wonder if the Tsar 350 will have a sound signature similar for the 4's. Also, at first I was shocked that a dual driver setup was so high, but A) As far as I know, Xovers lower your total impedance, and B) the PFE-232 only has 2 drivers, and look how many people like that? :P

I'm more than confident these will be excellent. Keep your eyes out!

The 350's are gonna be interesting!

I've never subscribed to the idea that more drivers is automatically better than less. In my opinion it's all about design and implementation.

noooo why is head fi so mean
all i see is great iems and headphones being released all the time and it makes me want to buy all of them mad.gif

anwyays it going to be interesting to see how these 2 iems fit in with the current lineup, bringing their universal iems to 4!

Interesting. I like listening at really low volumes, so the high impedance is quite intriguing. Having that wiggle room is definitely welcome; I barely get past the channel imbalance tolerance region of my amp's volume control (around 8:30 on the pot), and sometimes it's louder than what I want it to be.

90 Ohms is still a pretty damn high impedance for IEM's.
350 Ohms seems kind of overkill, you'll probably need to carry a portable amplifier around with you.
At least there will be no hiss from being too sensitive... I'm looking at you Shure SE535

Not really...  It's not going to get loud, but it can be driven.  The Etymotic EtyKids are designed with 300 ohms impedance and low sensitivity...  I can get that out to around 90 dB without an amp.  Obviously, it'll most likely improve with an amp.

Hi folks, it is good to see interest....

Now for some corrections & details

1) Spelling will be TZAR (rather than TSAR) sorry my bad

2) Prices will be

A) Tzar 350 = $399                         Pre-order special is $369

B) Tzar 90 = $369                           Pre order special is $349

Shipping begins Dec 15, and they will be shipped on a "first come first serve bassis"

Pre-order special ends December 15

My opinion regarding the need for an amp or not:

I do think an amp for the Tzar 350 would be a good idea, at least when trialed it with the I-phone 4 we found it to give "adequate" loudness, but we also felt that there will be  many that wish it would play louder. That said, the Cowon J3 powers the Tzar 350 rather well, but I still use the Rendition 1 amp with it.

We are launching the Tzar series due to the prevalent use of portable amps and the continued emergence of high impedance DAPs.  We see an area the market that really has not been addressed, as there seems to be few options for those seeking high impedance IEMs to match with such DAPs.  The real question is, "Is there a demand?"

I'm assuming these are custom monitors and not generic fit/universal fits...  I hate to assume though, as I can end up making an ass out of u and me... :p

Very interesting! I was thinking about grabbing a pair of 3.Ai to complement my 4.A, but these have my attention for now.

Yippie! LOL :)

Also wizard has said to me the 350 will be dead flat, not percieved flat or nearly flat but FLAT.

Also I think their will be one more Heir product to be onnounced.

Wizard also mentioned he thinks they will go well with high impedance daps, he is talking about the liked of DX1000 and AK100.

I'll be comparing the Tzar 350 with my 4.Ai and 3.Ai. And 8.A.

No, I'm not a Heir fanboy! I prefer the term aficionado. Or "collector" even, I'm genuinely annoyed that I missed (read: couldn't afford) the 6.A before they became extinct.

Edit: Please ignore my avatar when reading above statement.
