HTF600 or ATH-M50 for Immersive Gaming and Music

I currently own the Panasonic HTF600s. I was wondering if the ATH-M50s sound better for immersive gaming and music (Gospel, Drum and Bass, Funk, Jazz, and some Hip Hop and R&B). For those who have experienced both, which do u prefer?

Thanks!

Heya,

The M50 is not immersive at all. It's sound stage is smaller than the HTF600.

If you want a more immersive headphone in the $200ish range, that is closed back, consider the Ultrasone HFI 580, Ultrasone PRO 750, Beyer DT770.

Very best,

Very best,
Thanks MalVeauX! 2 Questions for you:

1) Do you prefer the HFI 580 to the HFI 780? What's the difference between the 2?

2) Do you think the HTF600s sound better than the M50s? Just curious.

Thanks!

Heya,

1. The HFI580 is bassier with more of a "V" signature. The HFI780 is more balanced.

2. I think most headphones sound as good as the M50, or more appropriately, the M50 sounds like many other headphones. The HTF600 has a better sound stage and otherwise sounds good enough that I wouldn't bother with an M50 at all. The only thing the M50 does better frankly is that it's build quality is higher, it's a more durable headphone. But it's not worth $120~160 at all. I would say it's worth $80 based on construction, and $30~50 based on actual audio performance. But that's just my take on it. Obviously a lot of people who have very limited headphone pallets think the M50 is the audio god's gift to creation. Me, I think it's a mediocre over-hyped headphone that I wasted money on to learn the expensive way.

Very best,
