Sony MDR-V6 for music and games?

Thread Starter

I've been researching headphones for gaming and music (techno, classical, jazz and space ambient). I have a gamecom 367 headset now that sounds good to me but I wanted some more bass and I guess better sound (but I'm not sure how much better things get).

I am interested in the sony MDR V6's for the durability and price point. Some say though that they are better for monitoring and not as good for just enjoying music + games. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

They're not really for music enjoyment, at least I wouldn't use them for it. The treble is rather thin and harsh and the overall sound isn't much fun.

The MDR-V6 has been around for over 20 years. Its been around that long because it's a good music phone. Is it the best? NO, but in the price range you'd be hard-pressed to find something better.

I enjoyed music and games off of the MDR-V6 for quite a while. They're great headphones, there's a good reason why they're still popular.
