Will an iPod touch (5th generation/latest model) be good enough to drive the Sony XBA-4 earphones?

How is the amp in the latest 5th generation iPod touch? Will I need an amp to get the best quality with the Sony XBA-4 earphones? I read some past threads where it was said that with some earphones, there was no improvement with an amp when hooked-up to an iPhone/iPod.

The new touch is very crisp clear sounding but HP jack volume is not loud as on Nano. The new Nano has more punchy bass and more volume but I touch is more detailed in mids, highs and less punchy with less volume compared to Nano.

Thanks.

Will the 8 ohm XBA-4 earphones work to their potential through the headphone jack of the latest iPod touch or will I need an amp for them? Basically asking if the iPod touch will "hold them back" if I don't use an amp.
