I've been testing one in a breadboard with an small SOT23 adapter and it works like a charm!

for bigger applications you could make something more like the one on this website: 'Fly Electric' - Lithium Chargers

in another hand... two LM317 could make a charger. one adjusting the voltage and another controlling the current... would be enough for "quicker" applications.

Very informative and useful links. Now, I know what to do with my rechargeable batteries. I always had problems with them. One of my digital camera is malfunctioning and it is, some kind of, affecting the batteries as well. These links helps a lot.
