New headphones for around 100$

Hey, head-fi, I'm in need of a new pair of headphones. I've been lurking for quite a while now, and now I think it's time I get a new pair of headphones, but I'm not quite sure what pair I should purchase. I currently have the Sennheiser 419s, but I'm not very fond of them. I enjoy bigger-sized headphones with large a sound stage, and I listen to a wide variety of music, so I like more detailed sound as opposed to bassier sound. What are good headphones with these traits that go for around 100$? I wish I had more to spend, but I'm on a bit of a tight budget. Right now I'm looking at the Audio Technica ATH-AD700s, but I want to know if there are any other pairs of headphones worth mentioning.

Thanks in advance, guys.

I can't speak for the AD700 since I have not heard them for myself but given their reputation I think they would be the most competitive in this price range for what you're looking for. They do have quite a large soundstage but they may be far too bass-shy for you. I would also look into the Grado sr-80i. They have a smaller soundstage but a very nice tonality that is in my opinion suited for all genres. You really can't go wrong with either purchase I think.

Btw, welcome to Head-fi! Sorry about your wallet biggrin.gif

I can agree with the Grado SR-80i.  These were my second purchase after the Sony MDR-7506.  When I don't need to worry about isolation, the Grados are my first choice.  I find they are very detailed.  They are not bass heavy but if bass is present, you will hear it.
