(< $800) IEMs, custom or universal with clarity of ER4 and bass of ASG-1?

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I love my 4.Ai for the clarity and detail they provide, however I also love my ASG-1 for their excellent bass and mids.

 

Instead of owning two pairs of IEMs, I'm hoping to finally just settle on one that will do it all....if that's even possible? I've looked at the Heir 8.A but I don't know if I'm willing to spend that much money. Ideally, less than 800 would be amazing.

I think the JH Audio 10 x3 Pro does both well.  I will post an update when I have some time to listen to mine again.

Thanks for the suggestion. How about the 1964 Ears V6? They are a local company based out of Portland, so i'd be more willing to gibe them my business +quicker turnaround time is always a plus :)

I will recommend to buy the used high end custom items like JH13Pro, WestoneES5, UM Miracle and reshell them.

Why not just wait for the ASG-2 announcement? That, or get the custom version. The dynamic + dual combo should satisfy you, plus there are no crossovers involved. The DD and BA both cover the full range, thus augmenting each other.

 

The dynamic is the same one used in the ASG-1, so all that remains to be seen is the effect of the BAs.

Do you think the ASG-2 will be in the same league as the 1964 Ears Q? I've read some great reviews on those and they are only $525 base.

I'm with Eke. I'd wait it out for the AS2 if you enjoy the AS house sound but perhaps want more treble/clarity. We've got people who've listened to the AS2 prototype who say they stack up very well against phones like the UERM, Miracle, MG6Pro and Merlin. Heck, Shotgunshane feels the AS2 is leagues better than the ASG-1 overall. I'd definitely wait a bit longer for impressions to pour in

Most people who heard the prototypes said it's the best iem they've heard

I wrote Shane awhile back inquiring about the TG!334 v. AS2 And he said the mids of the 334 were the best he'd heard period. He said it'd been a very long time since heard the prototype but he was struck by the awesome treble. I can't wait for his AS2 to come in so he can arrive at a verdict

If you can swing by and listen to a demo pair of 1964 ears then I would highly suggest that.  There is nothing wrong with attempting to try before you by.  I did that will a series of JH and Shure products a while back and it solidified my choice to the JH 10 x3 Pro.

But isn't the AS2 already out? Isn't it safe to say the ASG-2 will be the same IEM with a universal shell? So there should be plenty of sound impressions out there already right?

Unfortunately no. Kenman is the only person I know of who owns the AS2 and has posted a full review. I think Dale has had issues meeting quota due to demand within the musician community, so he's been building a cache of drivers in preparation for the ASG-2 announcement

Yeah, it was the AS-2 in universal form...basically a draft of what the ASG-2 will be.

I'll be able to comment on this soonish. I also have a 1964 quad coming. Just bought one off the classifieds. Should be here tomorrow but I'll have to get them reshelled by 1964 in a few weeks.
