Is the Philips SHE3580 'BASSHEAD' Level?

Hi headfiers:) I see that many people say that the Philips 3580 in earphones are basshead level and have good subwoofer bass, so i am going towards actually buying a pair. I looked at the specs and it says the maximum input power it can take is 50mw. From your experience would it be able to take the power from a fiio e17 amp at nearly full volume?

 

Also if you own that iem, when you turn up the volume really high on the amp, with the bass pounding, does the drivers crackle or rattle?

 

Is there any other item that can handle more mw and produce better bass in the similar price range, besides the SHE3580?

For me, I don't find the she3580 too bassy. I tend to forget about it until certain tracks are played and I get a nice surprise but it's not all the time. At that price range, JVC FX101 is a whole lot bassier. It's a fun listen but the treble is too much for me. The spike at 6k runs right through me if played at a higher volume lvl. I need to EQ it whenever I use them . If you spend a little more, I'd go with the Sony MH1C. I own all three and the MH1C is my current portable pair.

Perhaps you should try the FX101 or the FX1X for more bass. The SHE3580 is competent in the bass department, but if you want extreme bass the Xtreme Xplosives would give you that.

Agree that the SHE3580/90 is not basshead level -- it is perfectly balanced and clear IMO.  But for $15 it has better bass extension and body than many earphones up to $100.  Just get it, you will not regret it.

I agree with this man. The SHE3590 is really something special for the money.

So guys does the JVC FX101 have better subwoofer bass and extension than the SHE3580?

It hits a little more in the bass deparment, bur overall the SQ on the 3580 is better.  if all you want and care is about bass, get FX1X.
