Ocharaku Flat-4 KAEDE (Maple) - Page 32

The supermicro was amazing. Xin? I have no idea. Back in 2006/07, Xin was the super FOTM. The headfi world is so rich with amps/earphones now, it's amazing. That we're talking about a 200 off earphone with such enthusiasm is amazing.

I used 'amazing' three times in the above paragraph.

It still is. I haven't bought another portable amp since. These days I'm not much into amps at all, but If anyone knows a similarly great amp of similar diminutive size, I'd be all ears.

Posted this elsewhere, but there is never too much of a good thing: Kaede and AK120 pair great (with 1.00) firmware.

Hi Mimouille,

What kind of tips are those?
Ortofon?

Yep Ortofon large, they work for me only on the Kaede, but work really nice.

Nice :-)

Thanks for the reply.

Any sound improvements?
It helps a lot in soundstage and bass for FTG 334 but wonder if the same improvements apply.

Funny, just asked about tip rolling in the Kuro thread. I have a pair of Ortofon's lying around somewhere, will have to try those tips.

Work is optional. Impressions aren't.

Congratulations buddy.

Sure you will enjoy them and they will offer an alternative sound signature to your other IEMs smily_headphones1.gif

Guys, I certainly will post impressions. It is still too early for that. There is so much music to listen to.

What I have discovered so far is that the tips are key so I am rolling like a fool. Treble, bass and sound stage are all affected strongly. These IEMs trend towards bright but they can be excruciatingly bright with the wrong tips and /or not situated right. The size of the opening is another factor.

What I am thinking at this early stage is that one wants a comparatively shallow fit but with a solid seal. One also wants large openings (at least as big as the Comply T200s).

The large B tips from my Heaven VI with cables over my ears are sounding rather good at the moment. So are the Complys placed shallow and over the ears.

...but I am still rolling. I have to get some Ortofon tips to try.
