I prefer sweet forward mids, deep bass and non-peaky treble. Which one would you recommend out of those 4 IEMs please?

I would say you will like the mids of Donguri most.

The bass is just nice.

For peaky treble, it really depends on your DAC/AMP and source. I would say Donguri is on the brighter side.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to sell my Kaede. With the HD800 and GS-X mk2 about to arrive, I am not sure that I need an in-ear full size headphone which is essentially what the Kaede is.

It is however sounding exceptionally good from the Calyx M. Best source yet. Still I only ever use the Kaede at home so...

Decisions, decisions...

If it helps, initially I went the same route. Sold all my portable gear including the Kaedes. Purchased a Yulong DA8 and a pair of HD800. Some months later I was back searching the FS like creazy to find another pair. I waited for 4-5 months for them to pop up again. I remember when I initially posted the thread there were like 3-4 other going for sale.

I'm not going to ever sell them I think.

^ Good feedback. Thanks. I am definitely not selling all my portable gear but like I said, I never use the Kaede as a portable. It is as home IEM.

Maybe it's time to take your first walk with them ;)

FYI, Kaede sounds berry berry good with the RWAK240.

I believe that. Kaede has its own funky harmonic resonance thing going with the dual driver and tornado tube. It loves a clean source.

Does the Calyx or 240 tame the highs at all? Had it before I lost it. Loved the sound a lot except the highs could get quite hot at times.

Will try more tomorrow. But the 240 generally does not tame highs.

I can't believe you sold them... wow. I wouldn't have, but then again, it's hard to stay the course here.

Yea, I sold them and I repurchased my own pair back. It seems they are my destiny wink.gif

The M directly driving the Kaede has an impedance matching issue that I am working on but this combo is fabulous. And yes, it does tame the Kaede's highs somewhat. I always found them to be a bit of an issue too. I find this combination to be energetic but not too hot.

I am keeping my Kaede too. I pulled back from the brink.  :-)

Following the Type II models for the Kuro, Yamagishi-san seems to be on the move again, announcing the Kaede Type II. It will be available for audition at the autumn Fujiya Avic Headphone Festival. Release date is late November 2014 and a few pre-release units will be available for purchase at Ocharaku's table at said festival and at another event to be held at the Kyoto Central Post Office. The only difference I can see is the different coating on the phase correction tube and a subtle angling of the base of the plug, presumably for a better grip. Like the original model, the Type II will also be limited production.

As before, Fujiya Avic and e-earphone are taking pre-orders.
