Shure SE535 and custom ear impression fitmet?

Hello,

Anyone with the custom ear impression tips for the Shure SE535, did you find it easier to put it on the ear and take it off than the black olive foamies?  Also is it worth it?  I found a place in Pasadena that can do evverything for $260.

Custom fits are not "easier" to insert per sey. You have to learn how to insert it. The custom mold is using the entire shape of your outer ear to help create a seal and hold the earpiece in place. So you'll hold it 90 degrees forward from the correct position, place the tip into your ear and kinda "twist" it back into place. Once you get used to it, it'll become second nature, but at first it's not easier than universal fits.

It's only worth it if you want to create a really good isolation/seal, and have the same consistent fit every time. Keep in mind you're placing a universal IEM into a custom sleeve, so you will not get the close-to-flat fit against your ear like a real custom. Most likely it'll stick out to be 1.5x larger.

Unless you're really dead set on the sound signature of the SE535, it's probably better to investigate saving that money and buying a real custom IEM.
