Thanks Lee, ill have a go at changing up the way i navigate. Maybe there will be a firmware update which addresses this bug at some point.

Yeah the Studio V is very heartless on poorly mastered files lol. Garbage in and a landfill out ;)... But if the tracks are highly compressed it will definitely sound more harsh and constricted. Even to the point of clipping on certain tracks. That is why if you must use FLAC use 0 compression FLAC. Better yet WAV :).

Depending on what you pair it with it is an amazing player. Hell it got me to sell off the DX100 and RWA AK100... I think that speaks for itself :P. So you still going for the 1Plus2s audionwebi?

I would love to go for 1Plus2 but my weakness is saving. I love to own them one day, I actually saved 600 for them but I honestly do not know what happened to the money :-(

They're definitely worth saving up for IMO. The best pairing I've herd with the Studio V thus far!

I will be buying it for, I just have to get some custom tip for the ACS T15, ER4S and maybe the CK100PRO(if it is possible), than the saving begins for sure.

Once I get the 8As I think I'm pretty much set on IEMs for some time. Still trying to sell off those MDR-7550s though. They are just sitting in the box being lonely :P.

Well, I'm about to send my unit back to HiSound (this is my 2nd return-I had returned the original V when the software stopped working, then figured I'd upgrade to the Anniversary while I was sending it out anyway). Developed 2 problems: 1)when I started it up it would usually go into a loop with those 3 "boot up" phrases ("enjoy music...", etc), loop for a minute or so, then shut off. If I kept turning it back on over and over (didn't count-20-30 times), at some point it began "initializing" and I could listen. When I shut it, same thing started over again. 2)Battery seemed to die after 1 or 2 listening sessions, not like the long life I had with the first unit. Jack was fine about sending it for repair, but this is my 2nd (really my 3rd, but 1 was my screw up), meaning sending it out forever again, not to mention shipping it again.  Costs starting to add up, aggravation starting to add up, got one of those sale C3's, also a slightly used RSA SR-71. Have an iPod Touch and an iPad, using the line out to the RSA for my Senn 650's (among many others Head-Fi is responsible for me purchasing). May not be quite as good sounding (haven't compared head to head), but, boy, so much easier to enjoy.

The iRiver AK100 sounds appealing in the posts, but, then again, so does most things here.

Sorry to hear your issues. Did you talk with Jack about this problem? My first Studio V was fine. Then when I upgraded to the 3rd ANV it came defective. It would heat up really bad. Extremely hot when charging. So I sent it back and got a new unit. Haven't had issues since. But then again I've also had issues with other DAPs on arrival to my house lol. DX100, 2 Sflo2s, Hifiman 601 all defective when I got them :P. So I've had more than my share as well lol.

Yea my Rocoo BA end up having a defective buttons after 4 months but boy the sound alone was enough for me to want to take the risk again. I believe the first batch will always have problems, the second batch is the one you should have your eye on.

True, I suppose avoiding the major manufacturers for better sound does have it's risks. I emailed Jack about both units and the problems I was having, and, after suggesting a few things in the emails that didn't help,(there is a bit of a language issue, so it often took a few emails to communicate exactly what was happening), both times he was fine about sending the unit back (as I mentioned, I never got the older "V" back because the Anniversary was just released and the upgrade price wasn't bad, so I just ordered that as the replacement for the 1st unit). I don't have any complaints about the service per se, just, again, dealing with a small company in China has its difficulties. The time it takes me to box and return items, the time without the player (I'm fairly busy at work, get some done myself, dump much on my wife). Hopefully, when I get it back, that will be the end of it. Just a bit frustrated about being 0 for 2 with this unit so far, and I do really like it (UI excluded, "initializing" excluded), and am just hoping the one I get back, in a few months, will stay around. Thanks for the feedback.beerchug.gif

Being an audiophile always involves some suffering and expense...did you ever read Michael Fremer's (Stereophile and blogs) on proper cleaning/care of vinyl LP's? Still have my turntable, love the sound, listen to digital files 95%of the time.

Never read it. I don't have a Vinyl set up myself but I have several hundred gigs of high quality rips which I really enjoy from time to time :). Do you really think it will take a couple months for you to get your unit exchanged? lol That sounds more like the nightmares I had with mp4nation and the Sflo2s.... With Hisound my unit reached them in just under 2 weeks of shipping. Then they shipped it out a week or so after that when they got stock back in. Generally shipping from China takes a week to get to me. But since it was Singapore that time it took like 3 week lol. But it sat in New York for a damn week...
