Sorry to hear your issues. Did you talk with Jack about this problem? My first Studio V was fine. Then when I upgraded to the 3rd ANV it came defective. It would heat up really bad. Extremely hot when charging. So I sent it back and got a new unit. Haven't had issues since. But then again I've also had issues with other DAPs on arrival to my house lol. DX100, 2 Sflo2s, Hifiman 601 all defective when I got them :P. So I've had more than my share as well lol.
True, I suppose avoiding the major manufacturers for better sound does have it's risks. I emailed Jack about both units and the problems I was having, and, after suggesting a few things in the emails that didn't help,(there is a bit of a language issue, so it often took a few emails to communicate exactly what was happening), both times he was fine about sending the unit back (as I mentioned, I never got the older "V" back because the Anniversary was just released and the upgrade price wasn't bad, so I just ordered that as the replacement for the 1st unit). I don't have any complaints about the service per se, just, again, dealing with a small company in China has its difficulties. The time it takes me to box and return items, the time without the player (I'm fairly busy at work, get some done myself, dump much on my wife). Hopefully, when I get it back, that will be the end of it. Just a bit frustrated about being 0 for 2 with this unit so far, and I do really like it (UI excluded, "initializing" excluded), and am just hoping the one I get back, in a few months, will stay around.
