I'd also had a bad case of flu a few weeks ago, and the doctor did check for any inner ear pressure, but it was all fine.

I'm not a medical doctor however the bad case of flu a few weeks I would think might be the cause.

Those viruses linger for a long time and sometimes they have a few tricks up their sleeve to remind you of their presence.

I do get sudden drops in hearing on one side for short periods, like about 1 hour or so, and usually this happens when I'm run down and I've been overworking (like I have been doing for the past 2 years actually).

Thanks for the reply.

Well, a couple of days later after the checkup, I realized my left ear has this on and off thing. Some days its fine, others there's some imbalance. Especially nowadays since its colder at night, my sinuses seem to act up, and I wake up with a blocked nose, especially the left side.

But I was really disappointed by the doctor's diagnosis. I already knew I had a slight hearing loss, because I had an audio channel imbalance, there was no need to confirm it. The reason I went there was to find out what was causing it, and he blamed it very conveniently on the audio.
Waste of time and money.
