As for getting ReClock to run, I haven't had that much difficulty with it. All I've done is:

1) Install the latest version of Daum PotPlayer;

2) Download and run the .exe installer from the Slysoft forum link above;

3) Use the Reclock config program to set ReClock to WASAPI Exclusive and either Default Device or my specific audio device; there are some other settings under the config Audio settings tab you might need to play around with -- right now I've got PCM Output set to 44.1 kHz sampling rate, 16 bit int format and Best Sinc Interpolation quality, and everything seems to be working fine. When it is working, a little green clock face shows up on the Hidden Icons thingie at the bottom of my PC's screen; if the clockface is red, then ReClock isn't syncing up correctly and you have to play with the settings some more;

4) Set the Audio Renderer in PotPlayer to ReClock;

5) There's a ReClock mod from pkshan that arguably improves the audio quality, but is a little more fiddly to set up, but the straight ReClock is definitely worth doing.

So which is better potplayer/reclock or pkshan foobar/reclock? Also is the reclock download link you posted here work with both potplayer and pkshan? Very confused...

My understanding is that either straight ReClock or pkshan's ReClock mod 1) doesn't work with Foobar or pkshan's Foobar variant, or 2) isn't necessary with pkshan's Foobar variant because it somehow incorporates his ReClock mod with it. At the moment, I've been enjoying Daum PotPlayer with the pkshan ReClock mod quite a lot; I'll have to go back and compare it to the latest version of his Foobar variant to see which I prefer.

I followed the instructions from pkshan on how to install his reclock mod and I put all the recommended settings on and on the potplayer I set the audio renderer to reclock and music plays but how do I know the reclock is working and doing its thing, becuase I dont see green or red "clockface" any where in my taskbar??? And also what are your recommended audio settings for the pot player other than setting the renderer to reclock?

The pkshan ReClock mod removes the little red/green clockface from the taskbar, so it doesn't show up anymore. Probably the best thing to do is run Daum PotPlayer with the straight ReClock, make sure that the little green clockface shows up, then do the pkshan ReClock mod. My understanding is that as long as you've got PotPlayer's Audio Renderer set to ReClock and you're hearing music from whatever output you've got ReClock configged to, then the pkshan mod is working. Also, it should sound better -- if it doesn't sound better to your ears than the straight ReClock, then it's not worth bothering with. That's something you get to decide!

Right now, I've got PotPlayer set like this:

Under Preferences, select Audio; uncheck the boxes under Reverb Settings. Select Equalizer and uncheck the Enable box. Select Normalize and uncheck the Enable box. Select Crystality and uncheck the Enable box. That's about it.

The ReClock mod will work with ALL windows apps,

The ReClock mod is use for stabilize windows jitter, does not cooperate with the music player directly

 

Please ONLY use the recommended settings from my blog,

other settings will decrease the SQ.

 

To confirm it's working or not, the true & only method is... "Listen"  (not the green face icon thing...)

to do so:

1.Setup the Relclok mod,use the recommended settings

2.Use foobar2000 XA515 or any other music player, play a music track,listen carefully

3.Stop the music(press "X" keyboard key if you use XA515),delete(backup 1st) or move the installed ReClock dll files to other place.

4.Start playing music again, hear the difference.

Thanks for the information, I think I got is working there is quite a difference vs wavout. I cant seem to find any processes or threads associated with reclock, which is good as tweaks like fidelizer should hopefully not interfere. Is there another thread to discuss your player?

My previous advice

as long as you've got PotPlayer's Audio Renderer set to ReClock and you're hearing music from whatever output you've got ReClock configged to, then the pkshan mod is working.

is apparently incorrect. Upon further experimention, I've found that setting PotPlayer's Audio Renderer to ReClock will freeze the pkshan ReClock mod, if you're using it. You need to set PotPlayer's Audio Renderer to your PC's default audio output, and then PotPlayer and the pkshan ReClock mod will play nicely together, per his installation instructions above.

I have been using pkshan's player with reclock mod (hopefully it was working, but who knows). Sound was very detailed and big soundstage. Maybe reclock stopped working after i uninstalled and reinstalled... I might try complete remove and reinstall again in the future. I do hope reclock takes some of the grain or etch out of the sound.

But there is something special about JEP, it may not have ultimate sounstage size or the most explicit details but it does have the most captivating blend of dynamics, tonal saturation, and other qualities which escape my articulation and which constitute a captivating reproduction of musical timbre that I have heard from a PC. It also plays my hi res files. To my ears it just sounds "right" maybe its a synergy thing with my system.

Anyway I cannot recommend trying JEP enough especially if you are using a neutral and revealing system.

Seems I stuffed up the reclock install, it does in fact take the edginess out of the sound and improve focus.

Apart from that JEP 2.4.8 has been released, if you wanted cleaner transients while maintaining the same balanced sound of previous versions, this version will deliver. I will compare vs pkshan/reclock in the future, should be closer now jep has sharper transients.

I will have to see what this reclock is doing in my virtual box and exactly what is happening in background. Am I to assume it is similar to a master clock product? 

 

BTW perhaps if you have time maybe you could compare with JPLAY v5. Seems a definite step in the right direction from initial impressions.

Reclock is a software that turns direct sound into wasapi, pretty handy for movies etc.

I still haven't got JPlay v5 yet, looking forward to hear what it sounds like too.

Ok got reclock working, it does make pkshan player smoother, but a little too smooth IMO, maybe fidelizer is messing wih reclock or something.

JPlay v5 running 2 sample KS extreme engine hibernte mode has huge soundstage, big dynamic shifts, big seperation and black background.

JEP 2.4.8 event mode wasapi with fidelizer has a subjectively smaller soundstage, more detail and overall cleaner transients. Dynamics are great, but maybe JPlay has exaggerated macrodynamics and a slightly weightier sound.

Personally I prefer JEP using the settings quoted and the eqiupment I am using, but maybe if JPlay get wasapi event mode working they could have something fantastic. I might try fidelizer with Jplay to see what that sounds like also...

EDIT: JPlay with fidelizer is fantastic, it keeps the soundstage and separation but i proves in detail and transient accuracy. JEP is just as detailed and precise but lacks the soundstaging of JPlay, still not bad all things including price considered. Overall victory goes to JPlay with Fidelizer.
