The 167 is good, great even for the price! But the 267 is the big brother so there are obvious differences in class.. The 267 is metal where the 167 is plastic, I didnt notice any creaks in the 167's I tried so it's not as if I thought the 167 wouldn't last as long or worried about breakage it was just a personal choice. The 167 do not have the same padded headband as the 267 and that almost chunky look is exactly what I was looking for......Big, Strong, Chunky.....it had to be the 267 for me.

The K167 feels flimsy and easily scratchable, so I disagree.

Is something going on with the K167 threads? ...

Flimsy is a bit harsh, I wouldn't describe them as that especially when you look at how reasonably they are priced. Not really sure what you expect for $160...

Are they at least as durable as the M50? That's the lowest I'll go in order to be completely satisfied.

Do they ever feel like they're going to snap? Are they creaky? Does it have molding artifacts and low-quality seams?

So last night I got this very exciting email, but none of the stores list it in stock. Sad little tease...

Sigh.  It is unfortunate that when everyone's going really impatient, I went looking for the $400 K267 (which was available along with the Europe distributed models).  But I couldn't find the link and assumed it was sold out.  Ran out of patience myself and ordered DT770 instead.  After reading the thread above I took chance and saw the link I was looking for simply suffered a mistyped error (from its own link).  And now I see the $400 K267 along with its little brothers.  Shame.  A real real shame.

How's the scratch resistance with these?  I'm still a bit interested but I worry about its portability.

My K267's just shipped from JRRShop. I ordered them on January 13th for $265.42!

We all wiill be awaiting your thoughts!

Ah.  It's official.  It has arrived.  It's really on stores now.

About $40 more than K550.  K550's downfall (for me) is portability issues.  If 267 is smaller than K550 and can be worn on walks in the street, I'd get one.  Now to find a store that allows me to test 'em.

Any comparisons of it to the Sony MDR-1R?

Finally some proper impressions coming in. Looks like it uses the same pads as the K550, actually.

Has anyone compared the K550 to the K167?

well, i guess i did.  i didn't A/B them, but i had the 550 and returned them.  the 550 were hard to get a seal, as everyone has mentioned.  the bass lacked and there was a lack of clarity.  the music sounded muffled and muddy.  the 167 don't require a seal at all.  clean crisp music.  if anything, almost too crisp.  lots o treble and the bass is good for me.  the sub bass, the kick drum, is fantastic.  the mid bass does lack some, but on High gain and bass on 1 or 2 with my e11, i get more than plenty of bass.

i preferred the 167 by leaps and bounds over the 550.

Thanks.  They do sound like great headphones, but I think they may be too bright for my taste.
