Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared) - Page 371

Hi All,

FWIW, this was the first thread that I read when I joined Head-Fi about 3.5 years ago.  I learned A LOT from reading it - super detailed and objective reviews, IMO.  I still come back here from time-to-time, especially when folks are bashing the Sennheiser HD800 as compared to new HP products.  Like today.  I own the HD800 and love them, probably because I've got a decent upstream rig to drive them.  I just like to read what David wrote so many years ago, about the HD800's, and which I still agree with to this day.  FWIW and YMMV.

Cheers,

RCBinTN

Upgrades to the current rig would be the HD800S and LCD-4.  I'm at the point of diminishing marginal returns.

FWIW, friends.

Been sifting through this thread and agree with you after a month of having both the HD800 and the LCD-X and the Gumby/MJ2.  I feel like I am in that zone of marginal returns you mention elsewhere here and am enjoying the range of both those HPs.  I am delighted in particular by the physical feel of the HD800 and the more weightless space they create compared to the LCD-X.  Spending less time for now exploring, except for some possible tube rolling, and more listening and it's a treat.

Have you tried the HD800 with the Phonitors?

I haven't tried them with any other rig.  One thing i do want to add to the mix is the sonarworks reference 3 plugin.
