Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared) UPDATE: AUDEZ'E LCD-2 Revision 2 (6/4/13) - Page 316

Agreed he said this effort took a very long time and affected his health (weight gain if I remember correctly). Also something about a girlfriend...

Wow, didn't know he was having health issues because of this thread. He made the right call then. Not worth getting sick because of head-fi.

Would I be looking for something like a HE-6 eventually? I've read the list, just looking for some thoughts. I love the Rockit R-50's neutral signature. I previously owned the HD-600 but it wasn't as strong on it's speed and technicality.

I have to say the HD800. That was my line of thinking when I bought mine. It's fast, probably a little too bright, extremely comfortable and extremely detailed/revealing. I always pair my B2 with a Digizoid Zo (match made in heaven, Zo tones down the brightness quite nicely), I haven't QUITE found the magic with the HD800 yet, but every so often it's as I imagined it with various tubes and with some light EQing in the higher frequencies. Calling it a full size TWFK is not too farfetched.

It's a diva of a headphone. :(

Hey guys, I haven't had the chance to respond to everything.  I'm still here and I do have more to add which I have been working on for the longest time.

I had a run of many unexpected events in my life, some health, some passings of relatives, and some monetary, but its a very very troubling year and it's deeply effected my ability to devote time to the thread as I had planned to.

I literally haven't listened to headphones in 2 months because of what has happened. I am OK, and all will work out but I haven't been able to be as attentive as I would have liked.  I am sorry for that :(

But I am not gone.  And this thread will continue, but it will take time for me to get back where I was.

On a side note just to comment on something,  I did gain about 60 lbs while doing this thread because my lifestyle changed.  And then when this thread was completed (or the core of it) I hit the gym and became active again.  I don't suggest anyone ever become a stationary headphone listener the way I was. I wish I could have documented the 2 years I worked on the thread. It actually would have made a fun before-after (but backwards)

The amount of work you put in... I can't even imagine... It's a masterpiece. However, at the end of the day, I think we'd all much prefer you live your life as you want to. Don't worry about us! We greedy bastards will be okay!

You don't have to apologize for anything.  If anyone has to apologize, it's us having to hound your for more reviews time and time again.

Thanks for creating this thread, it's really an amazing project in and of itself, and I think I am saying it for everyone that we greatly appreciate your effort.

That said, could you review ...... just kidding. :)

Actually, that is an interesting topic...The amount of time spent listening to various set-ups. I am glad your reviews are based off so much time spent with each set-up. For me, I probably only do maybe 1-2 hours of home listening every couple days on my good set-up, I can't imagine doing much more than that. Much of my listening is done at work with a portable set-up (I am just now transitioning to a full in-cubicle headphone set-up).

We really appreciate the sacrifice. I actually would love to hear the whole "making of" this thread. We all have our stories about what we acquired and when, and yours is probably far more interesting than most. I would be interested in your stories about acquiring the HE90 and the two R10's.

David, thanks a lot for your contribution to the community. This thread will always be a legend, and preferences for many of us for many years to come.

Please stay healthy, because your health will eventually affect your hearing ability, and we are here for the music enjoyment.

David,

I am eternally grateful for all the hard work you put into this thread.  Just posting one semi half-wit review took me 3-4 hours to write up one night (let alone all the time it took to listen to multiple albums with different gear for comparison sake).  I can only guess the many hundreds if not thousand of hours it took to write up this massive review.  Thank you.

This thread is astounding.

Good to hear from you.  I hope 2014 brings an abundance of health, serenity and of course more headphone listening!

David,

I'm just wondring what headphone you use the most while listening to Mahler symphonies. I'm a big Mahler fun and from your user name I guess you are too :)

Thank you for all the great work you have done on this thread David.  All the things going on in your life are far more important.  May 2014 bring you a better year!  :beerchug:
