I always been a fan of grado since the first time I heard them. That was just the sr80, and it captivated me that fast. Though I had them for 5 months now, I've been longing for an upgrade, yeah that fast also! I have an AKG702, but it seems there is something missing?! So I was looking for another grado, the ps500. The rave reviews tingled my imagination that I should have that phone in my hand and ears! But not quite I may say, because here comes the LCD's. Boy o boy! Cannot decide anymore, whether to go with the much cheaper ps500 or the LCD 2, cannot go over to the LCD 3 cuz of price difference. I love rock, brassy music, vocals, blues, alternative! Classical reserve for my akg. Please help! Is it the price or the sound quality? Which would you prefer, budget is the key here!

rock, instruments, vocals, blues, alternative, definitely get the PS500 (warm and full sounding) or even the RS1i (warm, very organic sounding,  awesome headphones) , you will not regret it!!! these are the genres which grado work best for!! 

 

the Audeze are nice as well, but if you love the grado sound, you will enjoy them more than the LCD-2 which can be a little too dark for some people. the LCD-2 do have the better bass and the technically, the better headphone (some of the best square wave responses and neutral FR response and low distortion). both are great choices. the grados will also be cheaper as well as being easy to amp.

So it seems the ps500 has some edge here right now, but don't you think, the LCD can do that also? Not that I'm pointing to go to the direction for the latter headphone...

How bout the he6 or hd800 with right amping?

Yeah with the hd800! Is this the same with the akg k702, because they have both wide soundstage less the bass of course.

yes, though the hd 800 when properly amped do pretty good in the bass department, i enjoy their unique presentation. both headphones sound quite similar

I noticed the JVC DX1000 flagship is not talked about much.  What's the thoughts on this headphone?  I also see the prices are dropping on new sets.

HD800 does not have less bass.  While it's sensitive to amplification, it has a very healthy bass response that IMO gives up very little to it's competitors.

Yes that's what I said, compared to akg the hd800 have much bass! But almost similar soundstaging

I always wanted to add this, but I don't think I'm going to.  I'm going to be finalizing the review shortly.  Can't afford anymore haha...
