Time to take a picture and cherish it forever. I haven't ever had that happen.

Heya,
Is the HE-400 anygood without amping?
I am considering getting them, but I do not have an amp at this stage,
If extremely necessary I can easily purchase one,
But which amp also?
Thanks
Amps don't have to cost a fortune with the HE-400. The HE-400 will sound fine without an amp but a Fiio E17 is definitely worth the money, if you have a litte more cash, consider the Schiit Magni and Modi combo.
According to the manufacturer it is supposed to sound great even out of an iPod. I haven't tried it yet as I got HE-400 just yesterday:)
Or try a emotiva..i heard it pairs well with the he400 also and is cheap.
You'd better have a pre-amp though, otherwise you'll only get may 2 degrees of adjustment on the Emotiva knob with HE400.

Here you go (again, just my 2 cents):
1.) SR-009
2.) SR-009
3.) LCD-3
4.) HD800
5.) TH-900
6.) LCD-2 = HE-6
7.) T1
8.) HE-500
9.) W3000ANV
10.) Ed. 8LE
My original rankings had to do with current "flagships" only. But both the HE-500 and LCD-2s are fantastic headphones and upon second thought are more than suitable to be on this list.
thank you.
I wouldn't do that..
I read on the emotiva appreciation thread it does..with some kind of resistor in between..oh well..maybe i read it wrong..i do have experience with the mstage..that little buddy. Drives the he400 with flying colors..i know..as i owned one for 2 years..
O Ok yeah with some resistor should work.. My bad.
The HE-6 audibly has superior details across the spectrum compared to the HD800's on my McIntosh 225 besides upwards 2khz. The LCD-3 pads do contribute a lot. The velours really muddy the sound in comparison. The stock leathers are simply bad with the HE-6. The highs on the HD800 are noticeably better controlled at ~2khz point and up though.
(I've posted the following question on HE-400 thread, but I would like to put it here too, as more people might have both LCD-2.2 and HE-400 here)
Two days ago I bought HE-400 as a complementary headphone to my LCD-2 rev.2. I am experiencing a strange thing - HE-400 makes me listen to the music much louder than LCD-2 does? It is as if on LCD-2 I can hear everything even on low volumes and on HE-400 I need to listen louder to get the same feeling of hearing everything. (I use the recommended velour pads on HE-400). Can someone explain this phenomenon?
Also I am not sure if HE-400 is such a good complementary headphone to LCD-2.2. I think the sound of both have quite a lot in common. I appreciate HE-400's greater aggresiveness, however I don't think it's much faster than my LCD-2. At the same time the 'tizziness' in treble annoys me a bit and 'forces' me to consider using EQ (which I am not a big fan of).
Will my brain/HE-400 burn in to the point where the treble won't be an issue or I should come to the conclusion HE-400 is not for me? If so, what is a good alternative for a complementary headphone to LCD-2.2 that will be used mainly for listening to 'spacious' electronic music?
I would like such headphone to:
- have more air and feel of spaciousness in depth, width and height
- more aggressiveness and speed
- sound that has good weight (not thin)
- very engaging and emotional
