Have you had a chance to hear the Q701? While they are almost identical to the K702, I do feel that they have some slight differences. Slightly more body down low, and a bit smoother up top to my ears. 

I also noticed that a lot of the listed prices are full-on retail, but many of these headphones can be found at significantly lower prices even somewhere like Amazon. Just thought I'd point that out.

Agreed...matches my experiences to a "T" as well.

An amazing read! I'm starting to get familiar with all of the more technical aspects of headphones.
I had two questions:
Does the Sennheiser 600 leak sound like a typical open headphone?
And have you had a chance to try the Sony MDR-1?

Dave, i have a quick question, do you have flats on your HP1000, and if so, are they the TTVJ ones, or are they the new ''improved'' flats that Joe has?

When I did the review I had the ones that TTVJ sells.  I've since upgraded to the new ones that Joe sells.  There is a difference, but its very slight.  To the naked eye, and even to the touch, they appear to be the same material and same shape.  There is however a slight sonic difference.  It's a very VERY marginal difference, but I do perceive it as an improvement.  I haven't done double blind testing on this, but I feel confident in saying that while the difference is minute, the new pads are an enhancement.

Hey David,

Have you ever tried the Ultrasone HFI-2400 or Pro 2900?
If so, how do you think they compare with the AKG K701 & Sennheiser HD 650
