I don't think it's a 'hate' thing, they just honestly have some stiff competition. I've certainly liked the T1's every time I've tried them, but I think the HE-6/HD800/LCD-3 do overshadow them a bit. That being said, I don't really understand the TH-900 ranking higher than them . I liked the TH-900's midrange and treble a bit more than my modded D5000's, but it wasn't that big of a difference, and certainly not enough to put them above the T1 or HE-6, much less justify the $2k price tag for me. But I also haven't owned any of those, so...

In terms of preference of the flagships I've owned, here is my ranking:

 

1.)SR-009

2.)SR-009

3.) LCD-3

4.) HD800

5.) TH-900

And yes, I did put the SR-009s down twice. They're that good.

Yep, we'll have to agree to disagree here. No way I would say that the HE-6s are are resolving as the HD800s or LCD-3s to my ears. I'm sure Asr would argue that the TH-900s best all of these headphones mentioned (and he wasn't a fan of the HE-6s). So much for consensus. LoL.

I didn't listen to the HE-6 a lot at the meet but I wasn't entirely impressed when I put them on. It wasn't driven be a speaker amp though, and I couldn't get to a comfortable listening level.. I think that my have hindered my experience..

Hate is such a strong word, altough the HE500/6, HD800, T1, LCD2/3 are all very good sounding headphones, i still prefer the sound of my PS1000, so all is not lost for Grado's flagship

Since listening pleasure is an individual thing, some will say the T1 is the best, some will say it's the worst, and most will (probably) rate it somewhere in between.

When you check the dedicated T1 thread, you can find lots of fans (although at $1,399 it will have fewer fans than, say, Sennheiser's HD-650.)

Also, because its very similar sounding to the DT880's.

I generally rate the T1 at the same level as the HD 800, and i usually prefer the T1 for most music, i find it to be really well rounded. But almost everyone else thinks the HD 800 is much better and people seem to undermine the T1. I don't know if people just don't like its presentation as much, or if my ears aren't good enough to hear their flaws/shortcomings that ultimately get it rated below the other flagships.

Same thing for the PS1000, I found it quite musical, but its rarely recommended here and theres not much love for it (most people seem to consider the RS1 being better). I can understand this more though since Grado doesn't always have the same build quality as the others, and the PS1000 is overpriced. But the T1 is cheaper and is often found new for 1000 bucks on amazon, and it typically sells for around 850 used on the forums

I am also very suspicious here... After all that praise about D7000, I thought they were a pretty poor value for 1000USD... Let's say good 300-400USD headphones "just for fun", nothing more.

Hi-fi should be about high fidelity... D7000 coloured the sound way too much to be considered an audiophile/serious pair of headphones. IMHO

I think I would most probably agree with David's ranking of TH900... So far, his evaluations are definitely spot-on!

Not sure if you made a little 'typo' there my friend... It's just you seem to have forgot to add the K701's. Haha easy mistake to make. I'll forgive you this time

that will do it and be the case every time.  The HE-6 is much like the HD800s  ie..  You have to have a good quality rig from top to bottom.

It's been a while since I owned the K701s and I do like the Q701s more. But sorry, they don't crack my top 10 and don't keep the same company of the headphones I've listed IMHO. (No abuse here )

Fair game :) Yeah I just recently got some K701's (same sound as the Q701's apprarently). I think they are warmer than the 702's that I used to own. Anyways they've turned out to be a great compliment to my LCD2's. Wanted something more polarizing and the K701's are definately that!
