It sounds significantly better than the Zana Deux SE, Super7 and WA22 I tried recently.

I never was a fan of tubes, but I knew that they would give a bit more soul to those two particular headphones. I'ts been 4 months and I've finally found the perfect one. Surprisingly, there is no noise floor whatsoever. I know the rated harmonic distortion of .05% isn't great for today's standards, but it doesn't sound distorted whatsoever. In fact, I feel as though the mjolnir sounds more distorted but in reality, it just has difficulty rendering the highs of the HE-6 (grainy) and bass on the HE6/HD800 is "empty"/ not as tactile as on the McIntosh. The upgraded power supply and tubes may make a bigger difference, but I never heard it stock.

The Mac runs dual mono and has a volume pot for each channel; it's a bit of a drawback in terms of ease of use, but it does driver the HE6 better this way. I can easily identify tube degradation this way.

I'm happy with my purchase, it's really special. I'll have pics soon (as soon as my friend gives it back to me >smily_headphones1.gif.

Next time we have a meet in Montreal, many people will hear it for themselves, a few head-fiers can share their opinions
