DavidMahler,

 

This thread has been quite extraordinary, thanks so much for putting in the time and effort to do all of this work and to respond to so many people. I'm a pianist and a lover of classical music as well. I've been content with the HD 800's so far. I plan on buying a pair of the SR-009's sometime this year. After hearing them last week paired with a very good electrostatic amp, the Cavalli Liquid Lightning, I was amazed with their transparency. I'm just curious to know of your thoughts about the SR-009 compared to the Orpheus. I haven't heard the Orpheus, but I have heard great speaker systems, and even better, live orchestras and performers performing great works of music. What are the similarities and differences of the SR-009 and Orpheus?

Yeah me too..sometimes i get waked upby my wife..asking me to come to bed at 6 am sometimes.. That meant i fell alseep listening to music since 23:00 pm ... But i am so relaxed then!! best thing to relax!!!

Usually, I find it very easy to fall asleep listening to some music through some nice headphones. But, I once fell asleep watching "Game of Thrones" and wearing HD-650's. While they weren't fatiguing at all, the realistic but repetitive menu soundtrack gave me nightmares.

 

It's only the last week or so, after injecting a new Grado 325is, that listening keeps me awake. They are a bit fatiguing and too often sibilant, but the '325 makes guitar-bass-drums (and maybe a Mellotron or synthesizer) rock sound like it was intended to sound.

Thanks Jacks,

 

For classical, you really may find that the SR-009 performs just as well.  It has a bit more analytical qualities, but its not an analytical headphone.  Both are wonderfully transparent.

 

May I suggest waiting for the new Jade. If it's even the slightest improvement over the older Jade it could very well be a top contender for classical music.  The old Jade already is.

Thats the problem with some beautiful girls..they get to much attention and then their noses get up..lolz.. U just have to be the better man then..and their noses go a bit lower.. very_evil_smiley.gif

Wish that was true but it rarely is! Its hard to find an open-minded girl these days.... way too hard to come by and too hard to search for L3000.gif
