Agreed, and I second the thanks to Patrick and the others for putting this together.  Wow.

I've been waiting patiently for this report as well. I am particularly looking forward to photos of their factory. I can appreciate your care with their "approval" of the content, after all, this isn't a report on the inner workings of a nuclear arms facility. I think giving them an advance copy of the report with a chance to comment in 15 days would have been enough and shown the proper respect. I doubt the report would contain trade secrets since they were in control of the visit from the beginning. Just my thoughts on this as I wait patiently.

In my own experience this is fairly usual.  Not really security issues or IP but Marketing and PR.  You also need to remember the language translation/understanding/meaning issues are likely to play a big part in the delay too blink.gif

Its quite likely their new Chinese parent will have to be involed  also which adds further complication!

We weren't allowed to take photos inside their factory, only inside the meeting areas.

Bummer big time! I was really looking forward to that.

Sorry that it has been so long.  There should be some new news etc and a final product soon. I can not say anything more at this point.

After all the effort and he spills the beans!!!

Now seriously, there's no secret news in this interview. The reason for the hold is primarily my bad Japanese and slow response time (I do this at night from 10 to 11PM when I have some energy left). Stax is mostly concerned about the PR effect, not any supposed big news.

I don't want to have you guys hopes hyped up to get disappointed in the end.

thank you for hanging in there...

rubbing a stax earspeaker and wishing won't work? Now I am disappointed :-(

I'm actually still curious as to the impressions of the place, high tech? hand crafted? white coats and clipboards?

Almost hard to think that Stax is concerned with pr. Earspeakers do all the talking they need to do, they pretty much sell themselves.

I think it's just fantastic that you went on a tour there!

Ri_toast, they're mostly concerned about my poor japanese skills I believe :). Between the actual conversation meaning and what I thought was meant at the time lied a huge gap... Scott's pro-recorder or whatnot failed to start (what was it already? Low battery or some such silly thing scott?). Amos's ipod audio recording app whatnot stopped after 10 seconds. We got left with my iphone, audio memo mode and this truly saved the day! You can imagine how amateurish this interview started ;).

Good news though, went through Scott's intro (and it's not a short one by any mean ;)) and start of the interview with my Japanese teacher today. Set to meet again this saturday where I am hoping to finish off the eng > japanese translation. That means this goes to Stax by the end of the week end and we then just need to pray that Stax doesn't object about the content.

cheers, arnaud

If I was to summarize my impression of the place the word I'd use would be: Humble.

The real experience is un-boxing a pair of SR-009s, where not only is everything designed to be absolutely perfect, but even the plastic surrounding the box is perfectly folded and taped.

However, I now wish there was one photo I could have taken, or rather, taken even up to 100 shots if I'd had to so as to be able to convey the scene correctly. That is of one worker we met who has what possibly amounts to one of the most insanely tedious jobs imaginable, but one that is crucial.  That worker is mentioned in the interview though, so you'll have to wait. smile.gif

Yep, that image of the worker is totally sinked in my head and I also wish this could have been shared!

Well it is best for Arnaud, Currawong and myself to follow the proper journalistic proceedures.  I think the wait will be well worth it.  Hang in there all you Headfier's.

^This is a special opportunity and a lot of trust on the part of the Japanese...take your time so we might continue the relationship!  Thanks for the efforts!

But yeah, we haven't forgotten about this interview.  wink_face.gif

Yes we might be able to get them to become a sponsor, which they ought to be given their product standing in the community.  How much do they know about Head-Fi and what happens here, was it discussed at all.  Perhaps a chance for more dialogue with Jude in that direction?
