I've heard suggestions for the ultrasone pro900 but none for the audio technica a900x is there an amp that could suit both if not could you suggest a portable amp to suit either of these headphones, thanks.

The O2 (Objective 2) portable headphone amplifier ($155), which can also work like a desktop headphone amplifier.

For a smaller portable headphone amplifier, the Fiio E11 ($65)

Both these amplifiers will easily drive these 40-Ohm headphones.

What about the predator isn't there a lower setting on it. i plan to get some higher end grados or senns in a year or 2 and if I get the predator I now I wouldn't have to worry about an amp later.

The O2 can drive headphones from 16-Ohm to 600-Ohm and only costs $155.

Currently using my ATH-A900Xs plugged into my O2, plugged into my Essence STX's RCA jack, using FooBar 2000,  listening to Modest Mouse Float on and Rob Zombie More Human then Human :) :)

1812 is sounding nice also :)
