XBA-3/ XBA-30..The Appreciation thread. - Page 63

its tempting, but the truth is is that the xba40 is a pretty warm sound. if thats what you want then go for it, but dont expect a direct upgrade from the xba30 sound as the sig is different.

personally i felt the bass BA push dont do it proper, while impressive, not the same as dynamics.

M200 is great but not the best fit. Heard good things about the monster tributes, but I dont focus much on mics.
Its just a plus

My Miles Davis Trumpets have the iphone mic and remote. Dynamics with a very smooth sound. fairly balanced, with a good amount of bass weight.

The Monster Miles Davis Trumpets I own have a mic, are absolutely gorgeous, and have top shelf sound that according to joker even rival the Monster Coppers and Golds for sound quality. That might be an option for you in dynamic driver with mic?

I think these are very bassy iem's? I believe he mentioned looking for more balanced sounding dynamics?

Yes they are on the warm side but I do find them well balanced. He is considering the XBA4 and I think he'd also consider something like the MA750i.

I have heard good things about them, maybe will get to try some day, they seem a bit flashy for my taste.

They are flashy, but also high end audio gear. You take those out, and I did once on the bus, you will get stares, glances, and the inevitable "what kind of headphones are those?" People like to press the horn knobs on the mic. Lol it was flattering, but it was the last time I took them out in public. My fiancé wears them around the house when cleaning.

Extremely unique design, I can surely appreciate the looks but I prefer something a little more subtle lol

Hi all,

My name is Juan, from Mexico. I've been lurking around the forum for a while now lol, but never actually posted (time to give back some useful information). I found out something interesting regarding the XBA-3's. I have noticed that this IEM (and the XBA-4 too) is prone to a weird moisture problem that causes a significant volume drop (left earpiece in my case). It seems to happen whenever I wear them for an extended period of time, 3+ hrs. My left is ear produces more wax than the right one, thus humidificating the insides of the left earpiece. There's apparently a similar issue with the Shures E3C, according to this thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/464760/volume-loss-on-left-side-of-shure-e3c-ear-phones (last two posts) So if any of you comes accross this problem, just let the IEMs rest for a while and everything will be back to normal. Hope someone finds it useful.
