That is a total steal. The XBA-30 has virtually no competition in the < $150 range.

Agree completely.  At that price the closest thing is the tdk ba200, but I think the sony is more enjoyable to listen to.

Have you heard the XBA-30? I know you have had the XBA-3, but it appears that Sony tweaked the tuning of the XBA series for the current generation.

I believe the xba-3 can't be beat at that price.  If the xba-30 is 'any' improvement they would be the same excellent value.  I haven't heard them though.

I finally ordered the CKN70. But I think the XBA30 will surely be the replacement if ever my XBA 3 breaks in the future.

So both my XBA-30 and XBA-40 shipments from Tenso are in Los Angeles Customs purgatory

..both ordered 3 days apart.. and even better, reading online, ISC Los Angeles has the slowest processing time for shipments compared to NY or other port of entries. What makes it worse is that I'm in the LA area too! Nevertheless the XBA-3s have been enjoyable in the time being, would definitely give me a sense of what would be improved with the two that I'm receiving

I find the opposite to be true. The XBA-3 is very good for fast metal due to the amazing instrument separation and detail. The bass and double kick bass drum is adequate and impactful.

I prefer my Miles Davis Tribute for electronic music because it's more intimate, warmer, and has fuller bass / sub bass.

I prefer the opposite. I like the XBAs for electronics music because of the big soundstage. I love hearing the reverb and echoes on trance, chill out and dance music. I like the MDTs for rock because of the smaller soundstage and I think electric guitars sizzle with these. :)

I'll soon be sending my XBA-30 to Rin & Inks to have measured.. they'll have an XBA-3 on hand as well so we should get some (objective-oriented) analysis & comparison from them.

Oohh I would love to read about that...I don't like XBA-3 due to its 'artificial' sounding and metallic treble, and always wondered how similar/different XBA-30 to the XBA-3
