my TF 10's are sonic confection. Just as sublime, delightful, and engaging as ever. Comply's are perfect compliments, and they sounds just as good out of my sansa and they do with my Touch, as with my Sony.

Man the mail is taking forever, my 40's should be in hand tomorrow, will give my impression asap compared to 1 and 3.

Also I have concluded that the xba1 has the worst fit ever, its like I cant get a seal for the life of me and when I do it last only for a bit and its uncomfortable, never had that issue with the 3, hope the 40's are good in this area...

Ok so I got the 40's finally, been listening to them and here are my thoughts.

Compared to the 3 I notice a wider soundstage, bigger and nicer bass that does not bleed into the rest of the sounds.

Instrument seperation is insane, I mean wow! Its like I can hear all the different instruments clearly which I could on the xba3 but this is crazy.

As far as that mettalic thing, I cant say, I didnt notice anything on the 3 and on here either, obviously it didnt bother me if it was present in the 3 so no comment.

Fit and isolation are awesome, how the hell are these like 3 times the size of the 1 and it fits me perfectly and without any trouble whatsoever? Lol

Overall these are the best iems I have ever had, thats not saying much considering I have not had much but these are better than the XBA3 and XBAH1 that I had, the xba1 isnt even a contest in any aspect,

Very clear with big bass and soundstage but the detail is still in there, the seperation in particular is crazy, its like I can hear the guy right next to me playing the guitar very clearly and the other guy playing the drums on the other side very clearly.

Overall I love these, I cant see me wanting anything else from headphones, amazing IMO, whats cool is that they took the 3 which had great clear sound with nice bass and soundstage but made them even bigger and better without sacrificing clarity and detail, I was scared that these would sound a bit muddy like the H1 did but these are much better; the H1 was similar to the xba3 but had slightly better bass and a bigger soundstage but were not as clear as the 3, these are the best of both, big bass and soundstage mixed with great detail and clarity.

So yea thats my impressions, Im not the most technical with it but I can say that these are great especially after using the 3 for like a year staright.

These are being user on an iPhone 5 as were the others, also these go loud just as the H1 which went higher than the xba3.

It's exciting when you find that WOW moment IEM that you can say is in your collection. Hopefully you're right and it's the last one for awhile for you? From how you describe it, it sounds like you won't be needing anything more, as these are near perfect for your tastes. That's how I feel about the UE TF 10. I've gone through nearly 50 IEM's since I originally sold my first pair, and nothing has come close to the WOW factor and fun factor of the TF 10. That's why I have mine again and will never part with them.

kevms89 thanks for review.

Today I listened to Daft Punk - Random Access Memories in Hi Res and it's very impressed to me.

Yea I cant see myself getting anything for a while as I simply cant see what else I would need from a headphone, I mean I CAN but the price would probably be crazy, More clear, wider soundstage, punchier bass etc, Im sure there are iems out there that sound better but the price is probably above $500.

I know senn has a $1000 pair of iem as does AKG, I wonder what those sound like but I wont be finding out any time soon xD.

I always wanted to try the TF10 as well as they have been well regarded for a long time.

Also I heard some talk of the xba4 and 40 being picky with sources, the xba40 from my iphone 5 is awesome obviously, with an amp I am sure they would probably sound even better but I can confirm that they work beautifully with just an iPhone (as does the xba3).

oh you're probably right. To go up from your four driver XBA, you're probably looking at spending $500-800 for the next best universal, or $500+ for customs that would have 6 drivers ect. So i think you're right about being as good as you will get for the money.

Congratulations! Glad it turned out to be your desired sound. The xba series are perfect with the iPhone 4/5 and iPod touches. No need for amp unless you want a smoother and warmer sound which you can get from fiio e11. Happy listening!

there's 6 drivers universal like Earsonic's SM64 , 8 drivers custom JH16, and highest I know so far is 10 drivers by the noble audio I think. Next year, I predict 6 drivers hybrid IEM :basshead:

JH AUDIO has their 12 driver flagship now. The "Roxanne." Oh how I wish I had a spare $1400.00 to hear this...with tuneable bass.

guys has anyone with h1 or other h series considered gro7 mk2??

i had h1 and returned those and end up getting mk2,,,man these cans are amazing.

i seriously believe sony made a mistake with mechanical crossover and using 2 full range drivers,it just makes them bassy

I've been using my JVC FXT90 with VSONIC Hybrid tips, and the sonic change is quite intriguing.
