(I ended up with three--just in time for Christmas gifts.)

At $90, they are still an absolute STEAL.  For the nth time, IMHO, the Mikros 90 are worth every penny at their MSRP of $299.95.

Unless ML reverses their decision to pull these from the market, the Legendary Mikros 90 will disappear forever.

Still think we should petition Martin Logan to keep the 90 afloat, and to get engineered up for the Mikros "100" circum-aurals--for which many on this thread have pined, either secretly or openly.

You guys and your fear mongering. Too funny.

Do any of you guys own Fidelio X1's?  Just wondering how these Mikros 90's compare to the X1.  I don't have either one but I've heard many great things about X1s.

Or does the open/closed factor make it too hard to compare?

Fear mongering?

Don't you know that most scientist and religious scholars are in agreement that the headphone apocalypse is on it's way.  If you are unprepared when the day comes, you have only yourself to blame.

For $90.00, I do not think you can get any better build quality and SQ from a hi-end company as ML.  Eating Maccaroni & cheese or Ramen noodles if you have to but do not let this deal passed you by.

On the site notes, go to AVS forum and search for the Pionner BDP 51- FD. ( MSRP $599.99) and the Pioneer Elite BDP- 05 ( MSRP $799.99) , while both are identical with dual Wofson DACs, double chasis, the only difference is the gold-plated RCA on the back of the BDP05.

For marketing purpose, Pioneer dump the Pioneer BDP 51 FD for $129.00 to promote the Elite BDP 05 ( $200.00 more). We cleaned BB up within a week or so...I had 3 of them, sold 2 and still have one for 2 channel audio. Freaking good deal do not let it go. In this case the Mikros 90 for $90.00 is no brainer.

Ready to pull the trigger on Ric Schultz's fully modded Oppo BDP-105 and the Burson Soloist.  Have to resist the impulse before it becomes compulsion.

The Mikros 90: "She's an expensive date!"

Hmmm, well since you put it that way, I do indeed hope that I have some 90's on my helmet for when the day comes...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I stockpiled boxes of mac&cheese away for an emergency like this.

Today only, just for you, $50 a box!  :D

Interesting regarding fit:

Quote:
I can understand why some people rip them so hard because they are on-ear, not over-the-ear or in-ear which are much easier to fit. The technique for fitting them properly is to start low and back and adjust up first, so that the bottom of the earpad is just barely above the earlobe - then forward until the bass extension is at its peak. At this point, treble and midrange will be natural - not sibilant, and not in-your-face.

" I stockpiled boxes of mac&cheese away for an emergency like this ". No thank you. College time was over many, many moons ago. I wonder how I can survive to this day. The $3k Meridian CD player = a lot of Ramen noodles and Maccaroni & Cheese. "Those were the days"...and  "Still crazy after so many years"...

I ate horse grain for a while (on weekends) when in college--my meal plan only covered weekdays.  It was actually pretty good.  I particularly savored the molasses-coated oats.  Yummmm.
