hey pataburd

can you provide us with a link to that cable ? . also did you need to mod it before plugging it in or was it just "plug and play" with the mikros ?

Ted's cable: http://headphonelounge.com/

The Auvio sells--or used to sell--at Radio Shack for $13.

BIG Bump and a "hype-hype Hooray!!!" for a stellar set of closed portables from Martin Logan.

Mine hold their own against the Oppo PM-1 and the AKG K812.

My suggestion is a 3.5 male to 3.5 female extension cable to allow you to reach the back of your unit.  My local Radio Shack no longer carries the 6 foot Auvio cable...only the 3 foot model...and I could not find the 6 foot model on their web site.  The Auvio cables are one of the few that fit the Mikros side without modification.  The only other one I found that fit OTB was a Belkin mini 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male.  However, be advised, that if you should find one, the Auvio cables are horribly microphonic due the cloth cover, and the unusually high degree of  stiffness.  In a a desk top environment it may not be as bad as it would be in a portable setting, but...

Others may have a different opinion, but there is no SQ reason to avoid the extension cable as far as I can tell.  I use one on my office rig and am quite pleased with it,

ZW,

Which particular Belkin cables?  I have tried several off-the-rack at Wal-Mart that do not fit the Mikros 90.  Also, are you talking about an after market 3.5 male to 3.5 female [Auvio] extension cable?

May look into a Chinese option.

Have had good success with their [$55] Gien carbon fiber disc mat: cheaper--and IMHO better--than the [$299] Marigo Signature cd mat.

I'm starting to notice a rather serious "hard edge" on my set. I've noticed that at a moderate volume vocals generate a lot of sibilance. I had modded my set by removing the felt over the "hole" and adding blue tack to the sides and a leather square to the back. I'm thinking about reverting back to stock to see if it fixes the issue.

Try adding the felt, as-per Lors' modding specs.

I have a hard felt dot at the bottom of each cup as per instruction. I also have a few pics here. I added the polyfill to further smooth out the treble, I removed a bit of it after opening it up and noticed that having a bit less of it helps.

Pics Below (Click to show)
