Curious when we will see these new "superb" mods from max...

I just realized how sadistic these headphones are. To me, they seem to sound their best/I get the best fit at the same time as my ears are becoming a touch soft from the clamp and it starts to hurt, that is when the sound starts to get really interesting and the bass improves :D

I prefer consistently cold, stiff pads and endorse a climate-controlled room [kept at a constant 55 degrees F and 50% relative humidity] for dedicated Mikros 90 listening.  When the memory foam softens, the pads get warm and can start closing off my ears at the [Tragus] flap.  I then move the front edge of the earcups further upon my cheekbones.

May undo the MikrosHypedBasst mod--or at least dig out most-if-not-all of the Tacky--and try the MaxxSuperb mod after he breaks radio silence.

These are turning out to be my most preferred headphone atm. DX1000 is a better headphone, but it has issues in the upper end.... SA5000 is perfect but that shizzy treble and lack of bass... I end up listening mostly Mikros. WTF? The balance is just perfect. I was sceptic of these headphones...and I understand there are different variations but *******. I don't know what juice is my pair on.. But these are so awesome.

EDIT: Patapurd, you definately need to try DX1000 someday.  If you liked the ATH's DX1000 is a clas above it is just supreme. But Mikros have given me the mini version of a modified DX1000, that is just awesome. All I could ask in a portable. That is why you should try DX1000 because it is the fullsize mikros :)

i heard the DX2000 black panther briefly, is that similar to the DX1000>? just color diff on the woods?

It was originally marketed to have some improvements but general consensus is that it is the same headphone with different paint. What did you think of it? It is not easy headphone,  it takes a while to get used to. But when you get used to the coloration....man, I don't think those to anything wrong and with some easy mods those are just killer. Got so good that I sold bot my W1000X and T1 without much hesiation :) And still... I enjoy the Mikros :)

Someday I wish to listen to LCD-XC and TH900 but I doubt those could offer a true improvement. Or atleast not enough to justify the double price. If i had to describe DX1000 I woudl say it is more fun version of hd600 with double the soundstage and improved all around. In that same metaphore I would say Mikros are HD600 with more refinement but more closed sound. All three share a lot of similarities IMO and all of the three share the tonality I love. Lucky me :)

It sounded quite euphonic, like a tighter, thicker sounding D7k...off a woo amp.

I am quite happy with my D7k, so didnt really look into it :P

I saw a pair of Mikros 90s on a demo shelf at a Best Buy recently, and you could plug your own device into it. Unfortunately, it wasn't working properly. Too bad; I was hoping to find out whether or not they were worth flaming people over.

Hi guys. Looking for replacement cable for mikros. Can anyone confirm that auvios will fit?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUVIO-3ft-Stereo-Audio-Cable-1-8-3-5mm-Male-to-Male-Gray-4200690-/201040827984?_trksid=p2054897.l5668

I like the braided type. Thanks for any guidance.

Since the connector for the Mikros 90 is a standard 3.5mm and it lacks a proprietary locking mechanism, it will fit. I looked at the manual on Martin Logan's website for you.

The barrel around the connector is very narrow, so not all cables will fit regardless of locking mechanism. However, I think the Auvios are narrow enough.

I purchased these for $59 and what a bargain!  Buy them on sale and send them back if not satisfied.  Beware of funky headphones in big box store testing.
