I believe mainly dynamics and possibly soundstage/imaging getting a little better (maybe due to getting used to the fit too)

I have been just letting them run my music through the days and nights with slightly louder than the normal volume. Is that a good way to burn them? Or should I use White or Pink noise?

I've always been a little skeptical of driver break-in other than larger woofers due to the compliance of the suspension changing, but I've also never been a big headphone guy before now. Until my ML speakers that I bought last year, I've built my own speakers for over 10 years. It'll be interesting to see if I truly hear a difference in the sound after some time. Some of that may also be limited by the sources being used in my particular situation.

That will do the trick.

The soundstage did open up (or my I imagined it did).  The bass also became deeper and...err..better (or my I imagined it did).

Imaginary or real?   You be the judge!

Hmmm.  The Mikros 90 is a bass cannon, unamped,  when compared to the Etymotic ER4P or the AKG K701.

But compared to JVC HA-S500, it is not a bass cannon.  :D

I've really enjoyed the Mikros 90 with the new Fiio X5.  Curious to know if anyone else has similar results.  I almost prefer these headphones over the Hifiman HE400 when listening with my X5.  Although the bass thump is diminished, the overall clarity of the music and also more detailed separation (especially hearing different levels of bass) is quite astonishing.

Still, I'm no expert, but look forward to hearing from others on this!

I concur with your above sentiments! The 90's are rather addicting.

But once you take off the 90's rabbit hole covers, the S500's become bass-bamby's lol!

I'm listening to the Foo Fighters' Wasting Light album on my iPad right now and the bass is definitely sounding better than it did yesterday. I don't know if that's break-in, a difference between my iPad Air and my iPhone 5, or just becoming more familiar with the headphones. Either way, they are sounding very nice. And the vice-like grip has lessened after leaving them stretched out over the box all night long.

@waynes world, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only thinking along the sound quality lines.  Hope your enjoying your X5 too!

@sfwalcer lol!  I'll make a deal with you, if you get the ibasso DX90, would be willing to do a swap to see which sounds better.  =)

I wish I had the X5! But the 90's also sound awesome off of the C3/BH combo that I have, so I'm okay for now...

What I really want is a 128GB micro SD card (assuming it will work in my C3 like my 64GB card does). But the $120 is toooooo much! I suppose that's another benefit of the X5 - two micro SD card slots.

The 90s also sound good out of my iPad.  This is a very versatile headphone.

^ i am waiting for the X5 and the DX90s to duke it out tbh. But am heavily leaning toward the DX90 cuz it seems much more advance with the UI and touch screen and all, while the X5 is....... welp there has already been enough jokes regarding its design and funky buttons layout so i'll spare you. haha

Was looking to get the FiiO X1 but since its just a mini copy of the X5 will probably skip that as well even though it is just $100. But if it sounds amazing then i am all ears. :)
