Maxx,

Can you tell me a little more about the different Audio Technica pads that will fit the Mikros.

Is the ESW10 pad the only one that will fit the Mikros well?   If so, I'll have to bite the bullet and just pay the price.

You can send the Pipeline to PredatorZ.

He will whittle down the plug barrel to fit the Mikros 90.

Lehmann BCL due to arrive today.

Unfortunately, the beta 22 that I have is not a good match for the Mikros 90.  [My HFI-780 sound very very very good with the beta, though--perhaps the best I have ever heard the Ultrasones driven.]

Hopefully, the BCL will be a great match for the Mikros 90.

[Enjoying the Mirkos 90, SPACEY Mod, w/the Auvio cable right now.]

I've kept wondering, and since you have suggested this so many times. Is doing this nontrivial in any way? I thought this would just be something super easy anyone could do, is there something that can be done wrong when doing this?

I have done it myself, yesterday morning. Not an easy task but definitely possible. The results are pretty AMAZING (sound wise).

From my memory..it will be a cooler sound. The old BCL at least....yours is the Latest Spankiest BCL :-)

if it goes below 50bucks...i might do some transplantation on its carcass.

I dont think price should be such a big factor as the sound..
I can waste a lot money on multiple cheapo cans.. tongue.gif

I think the Onkyo ES FC300 is a great find as it definitely sounds like an above mid-tier can smily_headphones1.gif

No don't do it.
I don't feel its worth the expense.

Yes it is the only Audio Technica esw10 that will fit,
But there are other pads out there.
I just received two pads I will test soon And let U know..

Yes I herd it and it caused my wallet to open and press the buy button..

Just like the Mikros did..
The only thing this can needs to do is to follow the Mikros lead, and be discontinued/discounted Lol
I will be comparing both by next week..

Both of my pairs of M90's should be here tomorrow! Can't wait!

Congrats!

Remember these things:

- they do have awesome bass. I'm not sure how/why some people think they are bass light.

- let them burn in for at least 100 hours before judging, because many have found that they change

- you can bend the headband to reduce clamp force. I just grab it and bend it.

- you can wear them backwards to get insta-seal and no forward rotation (works fine if you don't care about channel swapping)

- the 90's in stock form after burn in are friggin' awesome.

- buy a 2nd pair for modding - you've got two coming! Excellent - endless permutations and sound signatures, including teeth rattling bass, if desired

OK this is the problem with a majority if pads but there is one that I found nice!

We need a list of pads tried in this thread..
Pads either wrong size or poor sound:
Epic Fail!::

The esw9- poor fit, pads too large
Es700- poor fit, pads too large
Esw11- poor fit, pads too large
Es10- poor fit, pads too large
AKG 518DJ- poor fit, pads too large

Esw10- good fit, recessed mids
Beats Solo - good tight fit, recessed mids.

OK so what pads have been tried working good?
So far for me:

Sennheiser HD25 - very slightly loose fit. Almost snug. Mids and bass and clarity is back!!

Look!:
The HD25 pad is on the left.
The esw10 pad is on the right.

Oh and one drawback maybe is the fact that there is no center felt..
