Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones - Page 303

Shell Shocker price of $54.99 no longer in effect.

Back up to $60.99 on NewEgg.

$87.85 to Australia.

KEF M500 still commanding $250-ish street prices.

Go figure.  An exercise in marketing/economic--heck, even scientific--injustice if there ever was one.

M500 at $250 is like a date with Miss Congeniality's voice coach instead of Miss USA.

Sorry, Wayne, but IMHO the Bluecoats handily outmaneuvered the Redcoats on this one!

Those who don't leap aboard the Mikros 90 HYPE Train soon will/might live to regret it.

But REGRET it, they will.

Nah....they probably think this is all extreme hype, so they will never know what they missed (for a measly $60).

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the real HYPEhype is.....the Mikros with the HOLE,  and the Alphapads

Yeah, the connection feels a touch loose. Still looking for a full solution. Hope it'll work eventually.

People just don't want a $60 headphone to exceed the level of their $300 cans.

On a different note, am I the only one that whatched the Walking Dead season finale with Mr. Mikros last night?!

For the guy looking to have a pair shipped to Australia. The $87.xx price is a great price for these. I paid just under $100 for mine and while I would have preferred $60 it was still a good deal.

No apologies necessary! The good thing is that your 90's hype lived up to the hype! And as far as the current "bang for buck" goes, there is no competition (we know who wins that one!).

Having said that, I still love the M500's. They are way more comfy than the 90's (then again, it sometimes bugs me how loose they can be). And I love their sound. The bass of the m500's is still killer imo, although I now recognize that the mid-bass may at times be more than required (this is due to getting used to the 90's bass). The m500's are more coloured, and imo more "fun" sounding. They don't sound veiled to me at all, but they do in comparison to the 90's and I sometimes feel like I'm missing that extra bit of detail and resolution that I get with the 90's. And yes, the m500's treble is not as extended as the 90's. Those factors usually get me happily back listening to the 90's.

So yeah, I can see how someone might think that the Bluecoats won this little battle lol.

Wait, what?  Pataburd was in a Walking Dead episode?

Elvergun, you've really outdone yourself again on this one.  I'm sure--and I'm sure you're sure--Trunksey means that he watched the finale while strapped into his MLs.

I woulda missed the puddle-jumper to PA, anyway!!  : )

I was very sick last week, so in essence I was among the Walking Dead for a few daze.  Not Dead enough to make the cameo spot, though.

[EDIT*: Just brought the Mikros HYPE thread "signal-to-noise-ratio" down by another few units--dangerously close to the 0.5000 threshold.  Too bad for all those gotta-have-a-stodgy-thread-hounds.  No apologies, geoman.  : ) ]

Sounds great over my BASS-modded Mikros 90 and Teds silver cable straight out of my computer.

[Still, think I'll stick with Janos Starker and Pablo Cassals.  :smile_phones:]
