My 90s are scheduled to arrive next week. I have the M80s so I'll definitely try swapping cables. Thus far, head fi has been good for my budget fi cravings. I got the xiaomi Pistons in a couple of days ago and I LOVE them!

Had a great listen to bhazard's [poor, deprived fellow] former stock set of Mikros 90 last night.

It's worth getting an extra pair just to hear these drivers break in.

Listening with Teds UPOCC silver cable.  A great cable with just the right proportions of natural warmth and weight, excellent detail, balance and extension.  Everything sounded very very good, stock Mikros, through my HT system gear.

The Mikros 90 have maybe the best tone I have heard from a set of headphones so far.

And their development of a natural, congruent, believabe sense of 3-D space is also stellar.  I have heard bigger-soundstaging cans, but few--if any--can proportion, layer and make the space sound as true to its recording venue quite like the MLs.  The Mikros 90 can sound very big, when the recording allows, but they also manage to sound spatially believable.

HE-6?  What's that [all but completely expunged from my audio memory banks]???

The Mikros 90 are PRIMORDIAL in character; they constitute the nuclues/kernel of what every decent set of headphones should aspire to be.

;)

I'm finally, from all your posts, kinda getting the impression that you think these Mikros things are pretty good. Don't want to put words in your mouth though :)

The Lehmann BCL should be coming ashore within the next week or two.

Folks, we're looking at a whole new dimension of MIKROS HYPE!!!

HYPERS!

WHERE ARE YOU?

JUST BECAUSE IT'S SATURDAY IS NO EXCUSE.

MIKROS 90 HYPING DOES NOT TAKE A DAY OFF!!!

Really like their case BTW, the whole package is extremely posh. Unless they start to really bother my ears I think these will definitely be keepers. I can now comfortably ship my K545 to MH so he can review them in his portable shoot out.

Jazz sounds very nice on these BTW smily_headphones1.gif.

Welcome Aboard, DW!

The Mikros 90 HYPE Train is now making stops and boarding on all continents.

Keep listening.

These little Beauties have a few more aural thrills stored up for you in the burn-in hours ahead!!!

Jazz will sound even better!

CLARITY.  IMAGING.  SOUND STAGE.  INSTRUMENT SEPARATION.  SENSE OF SPACIOUSNESS.

All highly subjective and difficult to define qualities, but to my ears, these are the qualities that put the Mikros at the top of the heap for me.  Add to that the excellent passive isolation.  What is not to love (or hype)?

Hyping below:
I have stopped carrying my JDS C5 with my portable rig because the Mikros sound so nice straight from my iPod Classic. I am finding that they also do very well on the plane...isloation is very, very good for an on-ear phone.

Not on the plane I was just on, but I'm wearing it farther forward on the ears.

Basically, I threw 140 hours of everything at them and now I'm taking them on the road.

A highball of Concannon Irish Whiskey, straight up, [and Wagner] really helps loosen up those drivers, too!  :beerchug:

Lors,

Could we get a frontal on that configuration?

I really don't mind the stock/supra-aural fit.  What I don't like is the earpad foam warming and collapsing after extended use.  If I could find some denser, cooler memory foam to repack the pad covers, that has the same sonic permeability . . . time to grab a pair of scissors and snip-snip-snip out a small chunk of the mattress in the guest room.

Punish those drivers!!

You will not want for another set of headphones in quite the way you will want for the fully burned in [and modded] Mikros 90.
