Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones - Page 273

I'll give you a conservative take. It's at least quite good for what it is: a cheaper priced on ear portable.

Above average sound, only average build quality, above average isolation, comfortable enough with very minor adjustments.

It's cheap enough to try and return if you dislike it, but don't judge till after copious burn in. It's finally settling down after 125 hours and I'm still going.

Burn baby burn! Work that diaphragm!

todate i still cant make headways with those waves or graphs...

i just slapp on whatever headfone i have n hear if i like it.

modding with or without the hole opened on the mikros has been satisfying to my ears thus far.

Opened up...de-nasalized this can.

Just enjoy this cheap portable ...put on the music ...n hype away :P

My thoughts precisely.

I'm not sure why people feel the need to put down those who are enjoying their headphones. It seems there's always someone who has to come along and say, "No, but look at the evidence! Your ears are WRONG, those headphones can't possibly sound good to anyone. You better stop harming everyone with your filthy enjoyment of discounted gear."

Couldn't be arsed. I'm not surprised to be told that you got muzzled, though. I wonder how long before my posts are cleaned up for even inferring the site.

Some of those guys are hilarious.

Most of them have not listened to the Mikros, yet they offer expert opinions based on looking at some graphs.

This diff sound one hear out of this mikros is so varied...

burn in..cable...pads...ear placement...the seal...the gears...etc all affect one's enjoyment.

I wonder how a test equipment is able to represent what a person will hear...

and help us make a deduction on how "good" it is?

puzzzzzling...anyway not asking for an answer...just an utterance :P

I actually thought that graph wasn't terribly far from what I'm hearing. The bass roll off and the spikes up top would provide some degree of brightness. But I didn't find the sound objectionable after burn in. I listened to Schubert's cello quintet last night without being bothered by a thing. It's far from neutral, but I wasn't in the least unpleased.

I'm all for measuring things, but as an explanation for what I'm hearing. Maybe it would be different if I were designing / tuning drivers and enclosures. The real objections on that site were to the tone of this thread. To that, I can only say, thanks for pissing them off!! very_evil_smiley.gif

Did I miss something? What graph?

I thought they were being worn with the headband at the back of the head.

But yeah... this mostly shows what we all know - they are extremely sensitive to placement and don't sound good without proper placement (which is hard without actually hearing them)

No thanks are necessary for doctorjazz! After all, he already stated the finicky fit problem before. ;)

Do you guys have the headband at the top middle of your head?
Wow, not flattering in deed.  Makes it sound like these headphones are something that $10 would get you at K-Mart.

I'm wearing the headband on top in the middle, with the back of the earpads against the inner curve of my ear (so not so far back as the lobe).

POOR MISGUIDED SOULS!!!

That simply means that there will be more of the dwindling supply left for us hoarders.

Does absolutely NOTHING to diminish the sonic euphoria that my ears experience daily with the [modded--er, and stock] Mikros 90.

Indicative of the unsubstantiated rant of either non-users or half-baked [ab]"users" who started the whole misunderstanding in the beginning.

This thread stands in stark contradiction to the kind of hogwash these folks have been generating.
