Hello I have to add that with ANY PAD change, the signature sound turns more "V" shaped.. So the attention has to be to preserve the mids from the open bass hole.

Currently my Mikros sounds pretty good with the esw10 pads and I have her hole full open to me..
The pads fit perfectly as they are not loose or tight and there is no suction effect and bass is lowered to be more linear and not overpowering so with the driver relaxed because of the full open hole I am getting maximum transient detailing yet I have to find a way to bring up the mids a little and I know the easiest way is to try another pad.
Or stuff some of the original foam inside the front pad..

try adding a thin O ring of foam under the driver... that should bring the mids forward.

===========

For those who have alphapads...

when i reverse-fit and alphapad over the stockpad, all the sound is preserved.

( i havent tried/ or want to somehow join or glue or sew them together as yet..or cut off the thin fabric

over the driver yet )

If the esw10 pads fit...then the esw11 should fit too..i think it has a flatter bigger contact surface.

I would say the signature is similar to a mods m100 with the esw10 pads..

With the other pads the v shape was more pronounced and so I would say stock pads have the most balanced mids..

No I have all those pads,
Esw11 are too large to grab around edge.
I have to look for my es700 pads as they may be the answer,
But they prob be same size loose like esw9...

So thinking about some es7 pads or maybe the amperior pads..

When I have them at hand in my house and I plug them into one of my amps…yeah, they do sound much better.

My K550, on the other hand, sounds about the same no matter what equipment I use.  I don’t hear any improvement when I run it off an amp

How do K550 compare to M90?

Sounds like you decided that Vmoda was a better option for you, which is perfectly okay.   As a matter of fact, it's a good thing that you settled on the Vmodas since you would probably nitpick the Mikros to dead and post about your dissatisfaction until you finally returned them and bought the model you really wanted in the first place.

well my post above was not meant to offend anyone the first half was intended to help canadian buyers, after my research those are pretty much the cheapest price i found

and secondly its head-fi everyone nitpicks about something about their gear. if everyone provides glowing reviews of every single gear. it would make it that much harder to pick something (or easier depending on how you think about it)

regardless thank you for all your informative responses, i'm still subscribed to this thread so i'll be observing all these mods you guys are discovering. very cool indeed.

but a question off topic, why are the mikros being discontinued anyway...? is the company packing it in after their first headphone and iem release? what happened? the price is insane for something of this luxurious material and design.

You underestimate just how proud some folks are of their new purchase.  Keep in mind, not everyone who posts on head-fi is the same age.  A number of pages back I think there was a discussion on how old some of the more active posters are, and the average age was around 16.  I only wish I had headphones as nice when I was their age.

At the same time, I can't help but wonder whether these headphones have taken a big bite out of their school work.  :basshead:

If the headphones haven't, I'm sure this wacky thread has!

Thanks for all the posts regarding pad mods.  I'm sort of contemplating these: http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Compatible-Sennheiser-Audio-Technica-MDR-7504S/dp/B00BUL3GJU/ref=pd_sim_e_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=02W2AVDKB9WGM9PBWMX9  Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the stock pads?

I was heavily researching theses and was actually about to buy them until i heard all theses issues with the headband unable to extend properly, serious fit issues, insane burn in time and i was not crazy with the design to begin with ,( sound close to gr07 be which i already have--> too repetitive)

Seem tedious to return them if they have all theses issues,

Decided im Going with the vmoda xs that releasing in a week. I may come back to buy a set of mikros down the road. Need a bit more bass in my music and that design in white pearl is to die for

$101 from newegg.ca is a great price. Headbands not extending? Probably an anomoly. I think the fit issues are overblown as well. Sure, they can use a slight re-adjustment from time to time, but no big deal. Burn in - no biggie, as they sound great out of the box - you just get added awesomeness after burn in. Similar to the gr07be? Yeah maybe I guess (been a while since I sold mine - won't be selling the 90's!). Tedious to return? Prolly not so much if you're in Toronto.

Need a bit more bass? Yeah, unless you expose the hole, you're getting very nice but not excessive bass, so maybe the vmoda's will be a better fit for you. I wasn't aware of the xs's, but they look interesting for sure. If you get them, I hope they work out well for you!

^  i wouldn't spend more than $2 for those pads tbh. They look like the cheap/ crappy plasticy types. Not even pleather quality.

Anywho, if you are willing to spend $10 on some pads, these beats knockoffs seems to have decent pads on them. Might work for a pad over pad mod if you get the bigger beats studio knockoffs, and the knockoff solos also have pads that might work for these logans as well.

Haven't shopped around for these so other sellers MIGHT sell them for even cheaper than this shipped so.......

Anyone willing to take one for the team???

C'mon doc, you need to do that pad on pad mod BAD, and it will give you mo' BASS!!! :L3000:

DEWITTT!!!

edit: oh oh oh and the BEST part about those knockoff beats studios is that you even get a free detachable cable!!! $10 shipped. LMAO

Question for the Mikros Mafia: Do you think M90 sounds like a closed Grado?
