on the sidenote: I just received new USB -> Coax source for my DSM3 monitors,,,, DAMN ... I never thought the transmitting of 0s and 1s can be so route-picky. I can FEEL the music now, instead of hearing, it just materializes and MANIFESTS in the space... the imaging and positioning improved much together with treble detail / transparency and bass control... Punch and impact too. ... damn its like I have new monitors :D I hope I will get similar sound with Mikros that I am still patiently awaiting .... USA -> Slovakia can be tricky sometimes - love u customz.

Anyone think these will eventually rival the vaunted JVC SA500s?  I'm talking following and popularity.

I the Mikros is much better than the HD25 (which had little sub-bass).  The HD25 is very similar to the Amperiors.

YMMV.

I would assume, due to the fact that Mikros are being compared to X1, NAD HP50, Beyers, etc etc etc... the answer is NO they would not rival.

Some of the guys in this thread think they are better than even some TOTL cans.

I think the SQ is comparable to some mid-fi models.

I agree. Mid-if sq for sure. Better than totl? Not better, maybe preferred though.

That's all that matters in the end.

Not sure about popularity level, but I think you'll see a more sustained following. The SA500's sound fine, but most people probably move on from them at some point. I have a feeling though that the people who have and love the 90's will be keeping them and using them until either they or their 90's die.

I have a feeling that a couple of Mikros owners would die of despair if their precious died and they could not get another pair to replace it.  Maybe that's explains all the hoarding.

I have both, and both are fine headphones, the Mikros excels at speed and impact in the bass and sub bass region, which normally is a bit out of control on many headphones. My Amperiors have a lot of hours on them, and they have improved in sub bass from new, but still lack that last Nth of depth and impact the ML's can resolve. Also the ML's have this air and decay to cymbals and hall effects that many other headphones just cannot reproduce, it is this intangible that is so hard to describe, but which makes the Martin Logan's so fun and enjoyable. I might be wrong, but I do have a few friends who feel much stronger about this than me. At the current price, get a few, mod one and keep the other stock.

Thank you for making these even more tempting. I'm trying to read back through the thread but is the sound flat? Or more bassy?
