How about trying to attach some microfiber cloth over the hole? I use microfiber cloth as filters for my Westone UM3Xes because I bought them second-hand and they didn't have any when I got them. Couple of people mentioned using microfiber in place of filters and it works out well, plus it's washable so no ear-gunk issues smily_headphones1.gif.

What kind of changes?

Has anyone succeeded in implementing some sort of a pad/comfort mod? The memory foam in my pads seems to be compressing and they are noticeably less comfortable. Still digging the stock sound, particularly when amped, but I need a fix as to the pads.

By the way, my self built $30 o2 sounds wretched with hd650's but great with the Mikros. It is the budget pairing to beat imo.

I'm still waiting on someone (with the money and inclination) to be more adventurous with earpads. Problem is the Mikros cup size seems to be a bit of a difficult one to match. I would definitely appreciate a way of getting these to be more over-ear than on-ear. After stretching them over my book shelf speakers, the clamp is perfect but I still get pain from my ear piercings being squished by the pads.

I looked at the link for the eBay seller Lorspeaker mentioned earlier and I thought the Sony XB300 pads looked like they could be a comfy fit, even if not around-ear. I have the impression the XB300s are a fair bit smaller than their higher-numbered brethren, but I've honestly got no point of reference.

Yes, it is definitely permeable. And different hole covering materials affect the sounds greatly. It affects the bass, mids, highs, soundstage, imaging etc. Someone someday might find an optimum material that increases the bass and soundstage to perfect levels, all the while maintaining clear and detailed mids and highs. I wonder what that material could be?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I tried that, didn't work. No bass after applying it.

Perhaps the micropore with some needle holes would be a good way to tune the bass instead of an all-or-nothing approach.

Possibly, though I'd assume just finding more translucent material would be better.
