A little. Though I had treble boost up slightly even before the mod lol. I like a lift from 8khz and up. Lower treble is icky!

like in most threads, say a hd650thread(1000pages),

the lattercomers will be asking same basic questions..do some hardwork.. flipping the pages..

and the midcomers will be trying to improve the sound, the earlycomers are contented..

the naysayers will get quieter n quieter (outnumbered?)

there will be stockloyalists,   cableaddicts,  n  modders

talking about improvements...

i just cant draw a line betw a cable swap, padswap, padmods, amp-synergies, cupmods...

when is the line crossed , into "DIY" ??

nobody is gonna buy u a beats cable..no one is gonna buy u a customsilvercable...

everything u do outside of the original MartinLogan package,  is a DO IT YOURSELF.

And those who havent heard a modded can,  will fear that a DIY attempt might degrade the sound..

but will happily buy a cable to "improve" the sound.

If the cable doesnt work out , its no big deal...shrugs...buy another cable...

or another amp...or another dac. Abject fear of what lies beneath..

Its on a whim that i hav DIYed this can, but since i have opened up the can (of worms)

i kept at it n see what could improve n what could go wrong...the process itself is absorbing, v enjoyable.

The fruit is sweet too. A small cup (world) to conquer. v inexpensive too, cept for the CARVEN leather :P

Bottomline is still..its your money its your time, do what u want, share what u wish...

n most important....to enjoy the MUSIC...and the process of making MUSIC sweet to your ears.

And always to be BRAVE..

I've modded my he-500 but still fear degradation in SQ with these mods on the mikros...

one serious risk is definitely BREAKING those wires...

i know i will have a hard time soldering them back..my hand shakes, my eyes blurry.

The rest of the work is a piece of cake...reckon i have opened it up more than 20times. 15 times

the screwthreads, the pads  are still holding up

Soundwise, i know which of the 20+ variations i liked for what reasons...n its synergy with my diff setups.

Its a discovery process that each must walk thru...

albeit can be more efficient with info from those who have attempted them.

Fear .. is a Thrill to be FACED...

( the risk is 100bucks..:P )

FEAR of the damned left driver wire makes the THRILL of the 90's modding victory that much sweeter!
